Title: Question for the four-eyed
Post by: DGuller on June 13, 2014, 08:28:14 PM
I noticed that over the last couple of years, all the cool kids seemed to switch over from wireframe glasses to horn-rimmed glasses.  But what about Languishites?

Plastic.  Too many bad experiences with aviators getting mangled.

I have those frameless rectangle glasses. And I loathe them.

I used to have continual problems with broken frames.  Plastic or metal--it didn't matter.  Then about 10 years ago I discovered titanium frames.  Pricey, but well worth it.

Yeah, I've noticed the horn rims coming back too. I wear the wire frame and won't likely go to the larger horn rims. I used to have those when I was a kid, when I guess they were more "in".

Not horn rims, but I switched over to thick black Buddy Holly-style RayBan frames a couple years ago.

I was slightly ahead of the curve, because loads of people have them now.

I want to punch Beeb in the face now.

Don't have to worry about that, Ed.  He's overpaying for Ray-Bans.

You'd hit a guy with glasses?  :(

Thick, rectangular plastic frames.  Even with shelling out for lighter-weight lenses, my prescription yields lenses so thick that they tend to fall out of wire frames.

My "dressy" pair are slightly bigger, closer to square than rectangle, and the frames fade from an opaque dark charcoal grey at the top to clear at the bottom.

My government employee extended health care plan overpaid for the Ray-Bans, you mean.

Slim horn-rimmed Tom Ford glasses. For the sunglasses, Wayfarers, black.

I used to use the lovely Oliver Peoples' frames, but they went far too pricey in the last years.

Gold and rectangular forever.  I refuse to change style.

Black horn-rimmed, but I've been wearing these kind of glasses for years now.

You know it, Huey.

Seriously - it's bizarre to see 20-something hipsters wearing fashion that would have gotten me punched in the face 20 years ago.  Being nerdy really is, finally, cool.  It's kind of awesome (except that I now have a terminal case of the daddy-uncool-it is).

Still have the wire frame, but I never wear them in public.  When I got contacts, I made a vow to never leave the house with glasses on again barring an absolute emergency.

Wire frames.  I don't give a shit about fashion.

Rectangular copper. Makes my beard seem redder.
