I'm doing Classical Greece. All polls include general EUIV style world map games or something more specific.
The Martian Land Rush.
Take it to p'dox forums. They have all sorts of threads about this.
A Proterozoic game would be terribly exciting.
Empire of ants

With 3,000 Swedish events.
Who cares
Probably Victoria III.
I'd really like a game based in Classical Greece.

Empire of ants
Giant Ants? Maybe in the vicinity of a city in modern Belarus?
Anyway Hellenistic.
I would like a CK like game set in ancient Rome. Or Vicky 3.
Hellenistic period, start with the death of Alexander.
I think they might use Rome as a backdrop for a new CK-like character-driven game.
I'd love a CK-like game that covered the Hellenistic period through the fall of the Roman Empire. However, the "never will happen" game of my dreams would be one set in the Late Bronze-Iron ages. Playing the Assyrians

Elamites4eva!
As I've said a bagillion times before an ancient Greece game would be awesome but would have to move somewhat away from the established map based conquer 'em up format; that was the main problem with Rome, even though the Romans were far more into that sort of thing.
Vietnam.
Game in the ancient middle east, starting with narmer or sargon. Where each empire earns points for the player who can then spend them when the empire falls on tech for the next barbarian/invading tribe when he takes over that. The tech level then determines how large the empire can get before it goes decadent. The last barbarian invader will be alexander.

Ever play the old Avalon Hill board game Civilization?
There's a fun game to be had in that time period.
A 4X space game with some of the best mechanics from CK2 and EUIV and some space-specific mechanics.

That was made into a computer game. It was not that fun.

I have that computer game somewhere. It wasn't bad, as far as "board game to computer game conversions" go.
But was more just commenting on the general time period itself.

It was the first strategy game I ever owned
Actually my hardon for that time period probably stems from those times.

I still have it. Sadly, it's the Dutch version so it isn't worth shit.
Assyria, eh, he said knowingly.
I voted Bronze Age, but you know, I'd actually like to see a 4x space game come from them.
I still play classic Civ from time to time, for old times' sake. It's pretty fun and the base gameplay holds up well, I believe.

There was a Gods and Kings mod for Civ 5 called Anno Domini that was superb. I am waiting for the Brave New World update of it.

I thought Incan torpedo boats was bad. Space Sumerians would blow IMHO.

I dunno - there are a decent number of space 4x games out there these days.
Hardly anybody makes historical games like Paradox does.

I was thinking their experiment in randomly generated maps for the EUIV expansion might be the test for a space themed grand strategy game.
I would really like to see that myself. A lot of their game mechanics are good, they just fall apart when compared to what we already know happened in real life. In a game with no base for comparison they might work much better.
Space Sweden will conquer all.

Personally, I haven't seen a 4X space game I liked since MOO2, so I wouldn't mind Paradox taking a crack at one. But while I agree with the sentiment that a lot of their mechanics are good, I kind of think that 4X space games work best as turn-based, and Johann has too much of a hard-on for RTS to go that route.
True.

Excellent link, thanks Norgy
