I tried to sign in to my gmail account this morning, and was told my password was not valid. This has happened to me before.
I went through the recovery process (which worked last time), clicked the link in the email sent to my dad's email, entered a new password, retyped it, clicked the "reset password" button, and the new password spaces just blanked out.
I've been back and forth through the Google help pages, there's no whiff of human contact in any of them.
How should I proceed?
You sure it's legit? When I had to help my mom with her Google password, eventually we came across a phone number we could call. This was a couple years ago, though.
