Got my copy of BF4 today. Lost my first battle--with the shrinkwrap.
Will try again later tonight.
Is it out on the PC yet?
Yeah it's out now for PC, Xbox and PS 3.
I can't decide whether I want to get it for PC or my PS3. :hmm:
If I get it, I have to play it through Origins... Decisions, Decisions.
Also this is another case where if it's not coming out on Steam I don't even know about it.
So I guess the PS3 version only supports 24 players? What is this mickey mouse bullshit???
I bought it for the PC. Installing now. ^_^
PS has always supported just 24 players in MP.
Some wicked maps in this game. And snipers now have to adjust their scopes for range, 0m to 1000m in 100m increments. Nifty.
I want to sit on the couch and play jihad jeep but 24 players is just too few for me. :(
Apparently the PS4 version is supposed to have a full 64 player count and includes all the same maps as the PC version though :)

Maps aren't as big as the PC version, so I've had no problem running over people with SeaDoos, but hey.
24 players? Only gays could enjoy a ridiculously low number like that.
GTFO of this thread, Paradox slut.
What machine would I need to shoot CdM down?
What is the difference between the standard addition, the Premium addition and the digital deluxe addition?
I dunno, Raz. I don't do BF4 on PC, but for Sony the standard edition is the core game, and Premium is extra content.
Well now I'm trying to decide if I should buy this or buy ties for all my cats.
Being Commander in MP is the bomb. The first time I dropped a cruise missile on a detected sniper radio beacon spawn point and got a 4 person multikill, I ejaculated.
They've done some really neat things with the customization of the kits: much more variety with sights, from short to med to long range, depending on what you like; you can carry an wider variety of primary weapon options than you could before as well. Lots more of camo options as well.
Are there Battlepacks in the console version? I kind of like them even if there isn't really a point to them. It's like opening a Christmas present.
Reading reviews the PC version if you have the machine is best bet, so maybe i'll get to kill ya funky

Yup, both Premium and in regular versions, after reaching particular levels. Got a really cool camo with my first one, looks like Chicom vomit. You can scheme out all your weapons and vehicles with a camo once you've unlocked one.
And I can only imagine the kind of machine you need to play it properly.

We need to team up and pull some sort of Chinese suicide squad. It'll be like the Yalu except with prettier explosions.
My machine is on the low end and it plays the game like a charm. Even on low settings it's really nice to look at.
Yeah my PC is coming up on two years old, so unsure how it would run.
So how does the scope-setting works sniper rifles exactly? (V button on PC IIRC)
never mind, I have googled it.
Tried it. Gonna wait until they fix the graphics and sound issues.

I have a new computer. :showoff:
Operation Locker with a shit ton of tickets and a couple hours to kill is a hilarious kill fest. I unlocked the LSAT, five or six gadgets/grenades, a bronze battlepack, and leveled up three times.
If you can find the right spot you can get a ton of points. I like to prone on the destroyed ladder in the middle of Cap C and just spot and shoot anything that peaks out from the opposing entrances. I went 24-3 doing that. :showoff:
You ought to try it in Obliteration Mode. Was in a match tonight that lasted 57 minutes. Scads o' points and unlocks. Had two 3-man multikills off of incendiary grenades.
My reflexes aren't what they used to be, but I can still plant a fucking claymore.
I'm bored. How easy would this be to get into when I haven't played a FPS since the mid 90s? I want to blow stuff up, not study a bunch of command controls before playing.
It's easy but you'll need to upgrade your video card.
or wait 2 weeks & buy a PS4.

Pretty much.
Plus, it had been quite a while I played a fast paced FPS before this one (World of Tanks isn`t really fast paced IMHO), and I found myself being in slow motion for a while compared to all the teenagers running around on the maps. Last time I played it was getting better. Just don`t give up during your first couple of tries. :D

With my Mac upgrading is not an option. Since they started working on the new Mac Pro they haven't released any new graphics cards for a couple of years.

Nope, not at 1080p with max graphics. If you contend with lower settings, it might.
If you want to play an FPS, try Blacklight Retribution. It's Free to Play & fun. Use your points to rent stuff, you are not going to play every night, spend them.

Why would I need max graphics? I just want it to not look like crap.
Because on the lower settings it will look like crap especially compared to the new generation of Consoles.
I have to admit, I preferred the maps from Battlefield 3, particularly the Middle Eastern maps. The ones in BF4 aren't so bad, but they really are dark. And all the uniforms are dark as well, so it's tough to see somebody. Luckily the night optics and FLIR does better than it did in BF3.
I've been playing hardcore the whole time, so there's no minimap and you really lose your bearings on some of these maps until you get used to them.

Yeah, I totally suck when it comes to running and gunning against a bunch of 16 year olds, but I try to get satisfaction in the quality of kills rather than the quantity. I have the Fast Attack Craft already maxed out, so there's nothing like getting a 5 man multikill with Zuni rockets. :D
And I still do my Palestinian thing with C4. ALLAH SNACKBAR
I just unlocked C4 for my Support soldier. :)

My problem with hardcore is that losing the ability to tag enemies on the "HUD" ie putting the red triangles above their heads by reporting them is too much IMHO. That is a great system to substitute radio and speak communications which would be going around if it was a real battlefield.
Wait until you get the gunner unlock for the vehicle incendiary defense.

I've noticed a shitload more TKs in BF4's hardcore mode; you wind up shooting your teammates, because the only way to identify them is by getting them in your sights; the blue triangle isn't there unless you've scoped them first. Oops.

I am clueless enough in normal, I am keeping away from HC for the time being. Too bad because I hate the whole "empty half of your machine gun magazine to make a kill" thing in these games.

I remedy that by being a grenade-spamming monkey.
In BF3 there were the half way to Hardcore servers.
You had no crosshair, extended dmg & no mini map but had everything else, including enemy tagging.
I've decided that I prefer the BF3 maps more. There's just not enough...stuff...in these.
Yeah...I love the tweaking of the weapons and the kits, and the sniper ability to range properly, but I definitely preferred the BF3 maps as a whole.
I read somewhere that there was supposed to be 3 "fan favorite" maps from BF3 included, but I don't know when or where that's all about. :(

That's too long to wait. :(
Depends how close I sit to it.
But it measures 43".
There, enjoy your giant tv with an HDMI playing PS3 while I play my SNES on my 9 inches CRT.
I enjoyed that, too. In 1989.
You can pick it up off origin for half off.

I'd rather pay Bezos more to treat the warehouse people like crap.
He won't play it anyway, derspiess.
I need something to do during Bengals games.
Go to France, Mitt.
Well! I'll just ignore your friend request.
Lulz, that's a laugh, nyuk nyuk.
I don't think he's even on social media.
Played a few Rush rounds of BF4 online the last couple of nights. Broke my rule of playing through the single person campaign before multiplayer. I'm a deer in the headlights on these new maps. My only comfort zone is tanks/AFVs. Thankfully zoom is unlocked by default, so I can use them as standoff weapons as God intended. Trajectory for tank gun seems totally changed, though. Will have to re-learn that.
Oh yeah, the ballistics model for both vehicle and firearms projectiles has been changed.
Wait till you see how you have to adjust your scope according to range, from 200 to 1000m.
I suck at this. Luckily there is a grenade launcher so I can noobtube my way to glory.
I have discovered that I suck at this as well. Being a fool I thought that a anti-tank rocket might actually destroy a tank. Or at least a truck. Nope. They must keep making their saving throw vs Rods, Staffs and LAWs.
The new maps for the China Rising expansion are fucking huge.
I unlocked a 20x scope for the 339 Recon. Holy shit, it makes sniping a whole new, annoying experience. I can only imagine what the 40x is like.
And this should make 11B spooge:
QuoteThe M1911 pistol scope we promised you as part of our Player Appreciation Program is now accessible in Battlefield 4 on PC, and rolling out on all other platforms during the day. This special sidearm scope has a 3X zoom and can be used by all classes. Previously, the scope has been exclusive to DICE developers.
To access the M1911 pistol scope, you need to have the weapon in question unlocked. If it is, simply go to the loadout screen in-game, equip the M1911 and hit the customize button. Under "Optic", you will find the accessory, marked SCOPE [3X].
Oh yeah, baby.

If it's like previous games, the initial AT weapons suck and you'll get access to something more effective later. AT mines still seem to work. Hopefully there's a perk or whatever you can unlock like before where you can carry more than 3.
Killing vehicles with AT mines is one of my favorite things to do in this game. Killing between 2 - 5 guys at a time = fun. You can almost hear the passengers cussing out the driver for not seeing the mines.
Those little M2 SLAMs are fun, since they stick directly to the vehicles like C4, and can't be seen as easily as mines.
But yeah, I love to drop a mine or SLAM somewhere, and three spawns later, see the KILLED message pop up.

And the motorcycles are awesome. Talk about getting somewhere in a hurry. You can get some serious air with those things.
I got a rock.
I use Soviet rocket launcher on tanks. The weak armor of American tanks let me one-shot them. Superior T-62s are harder though.
I looked up my stats. Worse than I thought.
1 kill
11 deaths.
Enjoying obliteration the most, followed by rush. My favorite server hasn't adopted china rising yet it seems.
Obliteration is hilarious, but now they've put a timer on it, so no more 75-minute, 92-kills power leveling rounds anymore. :(
I need to play more than TDM. I can suck on the other games too.
I prefer TDM in Hardcore mode myself; can't blame a bad K/D ratio on yourself as much when it's TDM; the spawn points are ridiculously predictable, and you can really harvest the stupidity.
You mean camp.
You make it sound like a bad thing.
Languish is extremely camp.
After a sucky 3 kills, 33 deaths start, I rebounded today and are now 60 kills, 100 deaths.
I seemed to get into the zone today. Plus I ran over people today with vehicles. Which gave me a shit eating grin.
I'm an engineer.
Fix my tank.
Can do!
Thanks for the Positive waves!
LOL BF4 forgot my loadouts. I had to reselect them. Awesome.
Could not get into that game. Maybe it was the long load times, maybe stupid bullshit where I had to go through origins then go to a webpage. Maybe it was cause I had no idea what I was doing.
