Gilbert Gottfried isn't an A-lister star (more like C-D), but he's been out there for decades. HIs biggest role was probably voicing the parrot in the original Aladdin, but chech out his wiki page - he's guest-starred (or done voice work) on tons of shows and movies over the last 40 years.

Lots of youngster die from overdose too. What usually happens is they get purer stuff when they are in South America and don't adapt the dosage, so they overdose.

OTOH, he sounds like someone parodying someone else's voice, because he is (that's not his natural speaking voice). I'd seen some of his standup bits (only infrequently genuinely funny) but wouldn't have recognized the voice acting from the standup acting voice. I'd have just thought that it was someone doing the same schtick.

Well that sucks.
A quick look at google news about his passing shows pretty much every story leads by mentioning his role in Goodfellas, despite his abundant body of work.
I guess if you're going to forever by typecast by a role in a movie, at least let it be a fantastic movie like Goodfellas.
That sucks, no age to die.
He had a brief leading moment after Goodfellas, but most of those films were unremarkable and he just settled for a career in supporting roles. He's been in more good films that people realize. I'd say his other best roles were in Copland and Narc. He also has that "I'm eating your brain" in Hannibal.
IMDB lists him with 126(!) acting credits, and that he is still working steadily.

Ivana Trump (Eric, Ivanka and Don Jr's mom, and Trump's first wife) has died, age 73.
And while I would not call it happy news, but in less-sad news:
Ripudaman Singh Malik, allegedly involved in the 1985 Air India bombing that killed 331 people, was shot and killed last night in Surrey in what police described as a "targeted shooting".
Malik and 2 others were involved in a multi-year trial that concluded in 2005. Malik was acquitted, although far from exonerated (judge found witnesses who heard Malik confess to have questionable reliability, and thus Crown didn't prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt).

QuoteAnne Heche 'not expected to survive' car crash, actor's family says
The US actor will be taken off life support after it is determined if her organs are viable for donation, following a severe collision that left her car in flames
The family of Anne Heche say the US actor is "not expected to survive" a severe collision that left her vehicle engulfed in flames last Friday.
In a statement, Heche's family said through a representative that she had suffered "a severe anoxic brain injury" and was now being kept on life support to determine whether her organs were viable for donation.
The family said it had "long been her choice" to donate her organs.
"We want to thank everyone for their kind wishes and prayers for Anne's recovery and thank the dedicated staff and wonderful nurses that cared for Anne at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills hospital," the statement read.
"Unfortunately, due to her accident, Anne Heche suffered a severe anoxic brain injury and remains in a coma, in critical condition. She is not expected to survive."
On Thursday, police told CNN that they were investigating whether Heche was impaired at time of the incident following a blood draw but that "additional testing is required to rule out any substances that were administered in the hospital", officer Annie Hernandez said.
Heche crashed her car into a house in the Mar Vista area of Los Angeles, near her own home, at speed on Friday. The collision caused a fire that took an hour to extinguish, according to reports.
The occupant of the house escaped without injury; neighbours told Fox News that the car had ploughed right through the house. "The windows were broken, so I opened the back door of the car. [Heche] answered and said she was not OK, so that was tough. I know they didn't get her out of the car until the fire was pretty much put out."
Heche, 53, is known for her work on films including the remake of Psycho, Donnie Brasco and Cedar Rapids.

Quote from: The Larch on September 13, 2022, 06:28:49 AMJean Luc Godard has passed away at 91.
After talking today with my father (who just turned 70) about Godard's passing he mentioned that all the Nouvelle Vague directors and most of the related actors that he used to watch in his youth are dead already. Out of morbid curiosity I went to check it and indeed Godard was the last of the Nouvelle Vague directors still alive, and also most of their big name actors are dead as well, with the exception of Brigitte Bardot and Catherine Deneuve.
I then went on to check the people from the New Hollywood era and jeez, the next decade or so is going to be a bloodbath. Clint Eastwood and Gene Hackman are 92, Woody Allen is 86, Jack Nicholson and Warren Beatty are 85, Coppola and Harvey Keitel are 83, Faye Dunaway is 81, Barbra Streisand is 80, and I'm not counting the lot of them who are in their 70s.
Of that list Hackman would be the biggest blow for me - he seemed to pop up in a lot of the movies I enjoyed the most. I can't bring myself to think about him as an old man now. But I am now likely older than he was when he made the movies I liked best. Getting old sucks.
I like Clint Eastwood as a director as much as I like him as an actor, so his death is going to hit me pretty hard - he hasn't retired and his death will rob us of more of his work.

Going through his IMDB it is by far the biggest role he ever played.
Don't get me wrong he had a wonderful career as a character actor, but what else would he be best-known for? Baddie in a couple of James Bond movies from the 90s? A small role in Ocean's Twelve?
Even in later years he continued to voice Hagrid in video games and the like.
My impression is that Coltrane was well-known in the UK for his comedy, not his film roles.
