Seen on reddit: Apparently this EU election poster for F.D.P. candidate Agnes Strack-Zimmermann reminds people of The Boys' Homelander. I can see it.

Incredible that when Galloway is trying to defend himself from people calling him homophobic, he still somehow does it in a tankie way: "I have been in a gay bar with the Village People throbbing out Y-M-C-A within earshot of Lenin's tomb. It was massively enjoyable. I really enjoyed it"

Helldivers' community is especially capable of organizing themselves to protest Sony. They just treated the whole thing as an in-game "Major Order" and deployed hell pods to planet Sony Prime. They seem to be telling everyone to remove their negative reviews now.

Glad they won the battle but the price of freedom is eternal vigilance.

https://www.pcgamer.com/games/third-person-shooter/sony-backs-down-on-demand-that-helldivers-2-players-log-into-a-psn-account/

QuoteA few days ago, Sony posted a message to Steam noting that, "Due to technical issues at the launch of HELLDIVERS 2, we allowed the linking requirements for Steam accounts to a PlayStation Network account to be temporarily optional. That grace period will now expire." That went down well with PC players, who were delighted to be allowed to hand over their personal details to Sony.

No, wait, that's not what happened. They dropped over 200,000 negative reviews on Helldivers 2, leading to an apology from developer Arrowhead's CEO.

While some of the complaints on social media have edged over into tantrum territory, there is a valid issue behind the uproar. Not every country can access the PlayStation Network, and Helldivers 2 ended up being pulled from sale in 177 countries and territories that could previously buy the game and play it without worry.

Now, after three days of pure shitstorm, Sony has blinked. In a tweet, the publisher said, "we've heard your feedback on the Helldivers 2 account linking update. The May 6 update, which would have required Steam and PlayStation Network account linking for new players and for current players beginning May 30, will not be moving forward."

Sony continued, "We're still learning what is best for PC players and your feedback has been invaluable. Thanks again for your continued support of Helldivers 2 and we'll keep you updated on future plans."

Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt replied to say, "Firstly, I am impressed by the willpower of the @helldivers2 community and your ability to collaborate. Secondly I want to thank our partners and friends at @PlayStation for quickly and effectively making the decision to leave PSN linking optional. We together want to set a new standard for what a live game is, and how developers and community can support each other to create the best game experiences."

Hopefully Helldivers 2 will return to sale in all those places where it became unavailable, and maybe we'll see that user review average shoot back up again.

Nice.
Hopefully we'll see the game's score go up again but I'm guessing it won't really recover.

Aware this is the opposite of the usual... But does anyone ever get surprised at how "young" some people are?
I just learned Beyonce is only 42. In my mind she's been around forever and must have been over 50.

Quote from: Sheilbh on May 05, 2024, 08:28:59 PMI think that's a very kind reading. My first thought would be that I now have a stalker who, a week (and hundreds of deliveries) later still remembers where I live.

Maybe but he is also just a kid thus prone to making well meaning idiotic choices. But sure.

Also it just shows that approaching women, and gay men apparently, will make them think you might be a stalker. So, again, don't fucking do it.

Because it is threatening (though what I quoted I believe was a telling joke). After all, the woman has no recourse to escape. He obviously felt strongly enough to recall or otherwise look up her address again which means he also knows her name. Then he shows up to shoot his shot in a place where she can't actually leave, a place where she should feel safe. It is such a violation of trust and would make one concerned about what will the idiot do next when you refuse him.
