Last post by Syt - Today at 12:36:59 AMOne thing I "love" looking at apartment listings in Vienna. Quite a few come (25-33%, I'd say) without kitchen appliances/furniture. Like so:
In exchange, the rent may be a little bit lower. Like 5% or so. Sure, you can just get some basic stuff in there, but who does that? A proper fitted kitchen with cabinets, stove top, oven, sink, dish washer etc. can easily run you 10-15k for a basic version, depending on what you want. No upper limits, obviously.
But to "cushion" this, the ads usually say that the landlord graciously offers some reimbursement for your expense on the kitchen.
The amount? Usually around EUR 500. In the case oft his apartment: EUR 250. You can't even buy a proper fridge for that money (I recently paid 430 for a fairly basic model).
And technically you can (read: have to) remove the kitchen when you move out, unless the landlord or following tenant buys you out. Which means you then have a kitchen that probably doesn't fit anywhere else without additional work.
(It's even funnier when it's for apartments with a fixed term, say 3 or 5 years after which you have to move out again, which is very common in Vienna, probably 60-75% of free market rentals.)

Last post by Syt - Today at 12:28:07 AMI've been reading the second book of the Drizzt prequel trilogy (Exile, following the events of book 1 where he grows up to be a master warrior but detests Drow society and leaves), prompting me to give a Drow sorceress playthrough a go. I'm struggling to be evil in these kind of games. 
Currently playing it not so much mustache-twirling evil (which would be true to form Drow), but rather as self-interested, slightly paranoid Drow outside her comfort zone and believing in might makes right, but it's still uncomfortable. Arabella died due to snake bite, and Karlach is a head shorter now (even Wyll has serious doubts if it was the right thing to do). I don't like being an asshole to people.
The only game where it kinda worked for me was Mass Effect, but that's because it's Paragon/Renegade choices are more about setting the tone of the story - are you Captain Picard or are you Dirty Harry.
