We received this absolutely massive deluge of rain last week.  I think I head 140mm of rain over 2 days.  Everyone was like "well thank God - that should help with fires".

But the smoke still spreads from northern Alberta and BC.

Obviously very early days. But - yikes

Wildly unpopular (including, according to ConservativeHome polls, with Tory activists), more baggage than the QE2, pretty unpleasant - and yet, somehow, not their worst option. Which rather sums up the situation for them.

I think still will probably be Badenoch or, possibly, Cleverly as the unity/safe pair of hands candidate. But a lot will depend on who the remaining MPs are and I think many of the more head-banging MPs are actually in relatively vulnerable seats.

Edit: Although who is still an MP will matter I'd still fully expect them to go through a lunatic/"no compromise with the electorate" phase - like Labour under Foot or Corbyn, or the Tories under Hague (sort of) and IDS before they start moving towards someone electable again.

I see it reported that it's been halved "without explanation", but I've also seen an explanation reported:

The first (and larger) quoted number has been the official numbers provided by various Palestinian authorities. Numbers which - apparently - do not distinguish between civilians and military casualties. Those numbers also, of course, have whatever question marks you'd like to put next to numbers provided by Gazan authorities. I'm pretty sure that when OCHA has reported those numbers, they've mentioned the source.

The second number is a list of specific deaths, verified with name and with sources that aren't the Gazan authorities' casualty reports, and (possibly, I'm not sure) limited to civilians only. This means, if a death isn't individually verified by whoever collected the data, it's not included in the number.

In short, the discrepancy is about data collection and reporting methodology. I'm pretty sure it has been explained, but there are way too many clicks and rhetorical points to be made from ignoring that, so that's what we're seeing instead.

That's my understanding anyhow. I haven't dug super deep to verify, however.

Apparently, the UN's OCHA (Humanitarian coordination something) has without explanation halved the number of estimated women and children casualties in Gaza in their latest report, while leaving the total number unchanged. They used to constitute two-thirds of the number, now they are a little more than half.

Yeah Cs are like the poster boy of the "liberals breaking the political mould" to "oops fascism" pipeline.

I think it was why Macron distanced himself and his movement from them because, form his perspective, what's the point of a radical, pro-European centrist party that's working with the radical right - that's what they're there to beat. Sadly I think that clear line is diminishing and there are increasingly many such cases.

They said they want to expand on the "evil epilogue" in the next (final?) patch.

I started a new playthrough - progress is, of course, "a bit" faster now :D

Plan was to play a horny old gnome bard who's out for himself - but I'm struggling to be a dick to the folks I got along with so well in my first run.

Plus, playing Dark Urge now, which is ... something.

I don't think it was PP who buried them, I'd say it was one of those genius moves by Sánchez.

Cs could have stolen votes from the moderate left, so our cunning Pedro painted them as right-wing from the start.
It didn't help that Ribera soon embraced the role, as he saw the possibility to replace PP as THE right party. Working with Vox solidified the transition from liberals to conservatives and they lost moderate votes (IIRC one or two million) - meaning they could no longer dethrone PP. With no niche to fill, they vanished into thin air.

Which would be a point in Islam's favor I guess if there were only three religions and people were free to move between them depending on their own conscience. But unfortunately that is not the case, at least not historically.
