Title: VPNs
Post by: Josquius on July 22, 2017, 03:25:17 AM
Previously I had private internet access.
This past year I've had hotspot shield.
It has worked mostly OK though sometimes has problems connecting. In particular it caused big problems for my laptop, changing computer settings such that it couldn't connect to the library network.

My time with hotspot shield is nearing its end and I'm considering whether to renew or try something different.

Does anyone else have a vpn?
Any recommendations?

I use private internet access and it's working just fine.

Personally, I use Windscribe when I have my laptop on public wifi networks; Android has a pseudo-VPN built into the operating system (at least Nougat does, not sure about previous versions).

I have IPvanished, I like it a lot.  It's fast (for a VPN), there's a decent range of international servers and it doesn't crash my system.   There's a feature, enabled by default, I think, that will kill your internet connection if you ever get disconnected from the VPN.  Added security bonus, but quite annoying.

Anyone ever used a  website called stack social?
If I do  renew hotspot shield (it has some iffiness...I'm unsure) they seem to offer much cheaper than the official site.
