Title: Portable hole and bag of holding
Post by: Savonarola on August 05, 2020, 11:52:40 AM
This important topic came up at the gaming session last night.  From what I remember you could put a bag of holding in a portable hole, without consequences; but if you put a portable hole in a bag of holding it opened a rift into the Astral Plane.  I could have that completely wrong, though.

If the bag is placed within the hole, there is an astral rift, and both items are sucked into the void and lost.

If the hole is placed within the bag, it opens a gate to another plane. Both items are destroyed and with all others in a 10' radius are drawn into the plane.

So says my Cursed Libram of Dorkiness.

I think the bag of holding can go in the portable hole but not the other way around.

I could see how creating a portal to the astral or any other plane would be useful when you want to be anywhere but where you currently are.

"So, when is the baby due"

"Baby? I just gained a little weight"

"... Portable hole, don't fail me now!"

Also, it occurs to me that asking a woman "do you have a portable hole on you?" might come across as rude.

You can put the bag of holding inside a portable hole, but sticking the hole inside of the pocket dimension of the bag of holding is bad news man...but I don't remember exactly how bad.

I don't remember portable holes from D&D. :hmm:

Now bags of holding, yeah every single campaign once of those was acquired early on, by some crazy coincidence. :hmm:

And whether it matches the drapes.
