But also struck that all of this is reinforcing the message that Starmer's been repeating for about the last two years. People who follow politics are bored of it - but they're also freaks, so most normal people won't have really listened but the groundwork for the message is there.

That's in contrast to Sunak who seems to have been doing his "plan" for about six months and is reportedly planning to run on security which is an idea they've been floating for like two months. It just all feels undercooked (and perhaps that's inevitable, when things go badly you cut and change all the time trying to find something that sticks).

Edit: Incidentally interested in Canadian views on that clip as Labour have also apparently taken an interest in Poilievre and wonder if it shows - I feel like there might be emphasising background and fight v (in our case) possibly the richest PM ever.

Working with folks in their 20s every day now and having lunch with them, some of them literally half my age, I often have to hold back the urge to go "Well, back in my day ..."

Because all my life I have encountered people who always found that Jewish conniving was the most likely explanation to any random thing. It's the default stance for many. So it takes a lot of convincing to convince me that's the actual case in any given incident.

As I've said before, anti-semitism, or even the practical existence of Jews, was just a non-existing concept in my life until I first saw South Park. Its just not something that when I was a kid at least (doubtless different post Corbyn and all that mess) factors into most people's thinking either way around my way.
I don't think this is too abnormal in the UK in general that the "Jews did it" is not a remotely typical go-to. Catholics now....

As I say from everything I've read, I can't really see what the Israelis have to do with it. It seems like it's putting two unconnected things together.

I've seen some mention it was an Israeli woman with a camera phone.
We have seen certainly that the Israeli broadcasters were up to a lot of hijinks backstage. The explanation that this led to several contestants asking not to be filmed backstage seems fairly solid- where it gets hazy is then that someone, whether Swedish or Israeli, then ignored the request whether maliciously or innocently, and prompted an angry reaction.
This actual final event is a minor part of the whole sequence.

As I say from everything I've read, I can't really see what the Israelis have to do with it. It seems like it's putting two unconnected things together.

So the Jews being conniving assholes to troll the critical performers into oblivion which culminated in two third-parties having an incident is more likely than the Dutch performer simply being a violent asshat?

Why do you keep coming back to Jews?
It is possible to hate someone being a dick whilst that person is Jewish, black, gay, or whatever, without it being related to any thoughts about that group.

All evidence does suggest it was more than the Dutch guy who was upset. He's just the one who snapped.

Why do you keep coming back to Jews?

What I am criticising you for, I guess, is not dismissing it out of hand based on the extremely weak legs the accusation  is standing on. It's an article made out of an anomymus TikTok message.

A weakly sourced but not at all wacky, completely believable story about a pretty unimportant recent event of mild interest and which pieces together the parts of the mess that we've seen surface in numerous places.

There's definitely more to this than Dutchman randomly decides to attack camerawoman- annoyingly with the way the initial banning was phrased and it being a woman on the receiving end, many people I know jumped to the assumption there was something sexual involved.

I'm inclined to shrug and largely believe the article as the version of events for now pending any actual developments- next year and what different national broadcasters say, it seems the Dutch have decided not to be involved with rumblings from others, will be what really develops it.

It doesn't impact my life in anyway so hey ho. I found it mildly interesting to see the story pieced together.
