Insufficient gayness has been a problem ever since James Buchanan left office.

Why? In each case, whether it is Muslims killing people to show they are a religion of peace; Mexicans beating people up and breaking the law to show they are not criminals; or Black Lives Matter folk burning down police cars to show they are innocent victims of police violence - you get self-hating apologists who excuse this behaviour. I mean look at Raz - he is making fun of actual victims of violence.

So to make a point about Raz's apologism for violence you quoted Valmy's post about Mexican-Americans waving Mexican flags?

 Marty, you're clueless.

Or gays celebrating the Stonewall riot to demonstrate they are just normal people.

Wha?

Let me try again.  Or gays celebrating the Stonewall riot to demonstrate they are just normal people.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

I'm just a foreigner but I still don't get that "nomination". At all.

Yeah. What does she bring to the table? Her own candidacy barely registered. The fact she's a woman and good to counter Clinton? Wait until after the primaries for that.

It's a move of desperation on the part of Cruz.  Conventional wisdom is that Trump will do poorly with women voters; Ted is trying to get them to the polls for him.  Unfortunately (for Cruz) it comes across as the worst example of pandering since 1980 when, in a transparent attempt to pick up the Latino vote, Ted Kennedy picked Jose Cuervo as his running mate.
In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace—and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock

Caliga

I assumed it was just basic attention whoring on Cruz's part/desperation to stay relevant.

I mean, what the fuck? :bleeding:  :pinch: :XD:

She's been called the songbird of her generation.

Not disagreeing it's a desperation move, but it does make sense on a number of levels.

-as an appeal to women voters, where Trump is definitely having problems
-she was doing very well as a Cruz "surrogate" on the campaign trail, so this gives her a higher profile
-say what you will about her time at HP, but she's still more successful at business than Trump
-and with all the talk about Cruz being unlikeable, here's someone who likes Cruz enough to run with him
-Fiorina seemed to be quite capable at getting under Trump's skin

When people are drowning, they are often panicky and not thinking clearly.  Which is why they die.

At least one of the Mexican protesters had a sense of humor.

Well, that and the drowning.
