Rocket science is an exact science, and it doesn't require any manual dexterity, so it can't be as hard as brain surgery.  Then again, if you screw up brain surgery, the results may or may not be noticed or attributed to you.  If you screw up rocket science, on the other hand, it would be kind of hard to fly under the radar, so to speak.
