The +100% buff to legendary drop rates in Diablo 3 this past week has been pretty kind to me. I switched my main from Crusader to my old Wizard and an hour later I'm clearing rifts twice as fast as I ever did with my crusader.

I already finished it.  Maybe I'll go back sometime later.  Played through as a Crusader who is one part knight, one part Captain America.  I could toss my shield and have bounce off all the bad guys, and if anyone gave me trouble I could summon four ghostly archers who burst fire arrows doing 10,000 pts of damage each.  It was essentially a "Fuck you, I win" button.

If you have done all the adventures at the highest difficulty level of torment then you have beat the game.  But somehow I dont think you are there yet.

OK then the in-game info is misleading, it only says that legendary drop rates are improved. But you actually get new tiers of gear?

Not so much misleading as incomplete.  As you increase the difficulty rating in torment you gain access to higher tiered items.  The legendary rate drop is increased because your kill rate will decrease probably resulting in an overall reduction in drop rate until you are geared up enough to take on the next level...
