I read recently the collection that is Days of Future Past (X-Men). That was...terrible and I'm surprised they decided to mine the concept (though clearly not the plot) for a movie.

I drank because I wanted to drown my sorrows, but now the damned things have learned to swim.

Humble currently has the complete run of The Walking Dead for cheap: https://www.humblebundle.com/books/walking-dead-image-comicsskybound-entertainment-books?hmb_source=navbar&hmb_medium=product_tile&hmb_campaign=tile_index_1

I have about half the books in physical form, might as well pick these up till I buy the rest in hard copy. Still haven't watched the show, which diverges significantly from the books (Kirkman argued he wanted to keep things fresh and interesting for comic book readers).

There is a rather lovely interview with Brian Bolland that came out a couple of days ago on the 2000ad website. I'm in a Brian Bolland appreciation group on facebook that also has as a member....Brian Bolland, and I'm happy to report that he is forthcoming, thoughtful, very active and an all around perfect gentleman. For the uninitiated its this guy...

The generation of British and European artists that created the 2000ad legend in the late 70's and subsequently "invaded" America in the early 80's has become long of tooth and sadly some of my greatest heros have passed away in recent years. Happily Bolland is a young 69 and working away.

But wait, there's more British comics goodness...an interview with notorious curmudgeon, bonkers genius and pioneer Brendan McCarthy. McCarthy has been my absolute favorite comic book artist for most of my life. He has a wonderful fluid style a sort of lysergic fine arts approach to making comic books that's a real thrill. He is most well known outside of comic books for the most recent Mad Max which he wrote and substantially designed. It's fun to watch that movie as a McCarthy fan, because he is all over the screen.

The interview is on Jim Rugg and Ed Piskors brilliant, brilliant youtube channel of comics criticism, interviews and reviews. The absolute best Youtube channel out there!

There's a new Sandman box set out - with the collected 30th Anniversary Edition issues. I was missing the last few volumes, and was looking into replacing the ones I had, so this came at the right time. It was €190 when I ordered, but the price dropped to €150 on launch, so got a refund on it. Yay. It's books 1-10, Endless Nights, Dream Hunters 1+2, and Overture.

The books themselves are of pretty good quality (definitely better than the normal paperbacks I've had), though stay away if you don't like the slightly glossy paper.
