Wiki says the first band you listed is from the UK.

You get an F for using Wiki as primary resource material.
Besides, like I would fucking know where the fuck Chumbamumba comes from, thought they were fucked up Germans that sang in English or something.

Anyway, I stand by my statement.  Shitty Korean dance music sucks MacArthur's dead ballsack.

I think consulting wiki is about all that one should do when talking about a band like Chumbawumba.

Also, you aren't standing my your statement if you are constantly editing it.

We've got enough fucking lawyers around here, g.  Stop it.

I don't mind the Gangnam Style song, but it's stuck in my head after it having been played like three times at yesterday's game.
"If you can play a guitar and harmonica at the same time, like Bob Dylan or Neil Young, you're a genius. But make that extra bit of effort and strap some cymbals to your knees, suddenly people want to get the hell away from you."  --Rich Hall

I'll give you the deal that I gave Raz. I'll try not to comment on silly things you say, if you try and say less silly things. :P

That's only because you're on their side with the goofy dance music, what with the water bottles and the pacifiers and shit.  Poppycock.

I like this recent live performance of Gangnam Style with guest star MC Hammer:

QuoteOppa is Gangnam style
Gangnam style

A girl who is warm and humane during the day
A classy girl who know how to enjoy the freedom of a cup of coffee
A girl whose heart gets hotter when night comes
A girl with that kind of twist

I'm a guy
A guy who is as warm as you during the day
A guy who one-shots his coffee before it even cools down
A guy whose heart bursts when night comes
That kind of guy

Beautiful, loveable
Yes you, hey, yes you, hey
Beautiful, loveable
Yes you, hey, yes you, hey
Now let's go until the end

Oppa is Gangnam style, Gangnam style
Oppa is Gangnam style, Gangnam style
Oppa is Gangnam style

Eh- Sexy Lady, Oppa is Gangnam style
Eh- Sexy Lady oh oh oh oh

A girl who looks quiet but plays when she plays
A girl who puts her hair down when the right time comes
A girl who covers herself but is more sexy than a girl who bares it all
A sensible girl like that

I'm a guy
A guy who seems calm but plays when he plays
A guy who goes completely crazy when the right time comes
A guy who has bulging ideas rather than muscles
That kind of guy

Beautiful, loveable
Yes you, hey, yes you, hey
Beautiful, loveable
Yes you, hey, yes you, hey
Now let's go until the end

Oppa is Gangnam style, Gangnam style
Oppa is Gangnam style, Gangnam style
Oppa is Gangnam style

Eh- Sexy Lady, Oppa is Gangnam style
Eh- Sexy Lady oh oh oh oh

On top of the running man is the flying man, baby baby
I'm a man who knows a thing or two
On top of the running man is the flying man, baby baby
I'm a man who knows a thing or two

You know what I'm saying
Oppa is Gangnam style

Eh- Sexy Lady, Oppa is Gangnam style
Eh- Sexy Lady oh oh oh oh
It speaks to me, I'm going to get that tattooed on my back.

What's interesting is the chatter that this might help K-Pop get a leg into American mainstream. I wonder how that will play out as it is seems like this could easily just be a one off. I don't think anyone is suggesting this song is good - just kinda fun in a quirky way.

I think that's optimistic on behalf of K-Pop.

I mean, they have slick production values and they do some catchy tunes once in a while, but I'd be surprised if people got into listening to non-English lyrics. Minimum requirement for entry is someone who is fluent in English, which is not impossible. Even so, I think it's a long shot. Unless you're British, you have to basically pass as American to make it in the US mainstream music market.

If American TV viewers had taken to Korean TV dramas, then maybe... as it is now... doubt it very much.

Actually Seedy, since you seem to like some punk stuff you might actually like some earlier Chumbawamba. They have had a pretty wide range.

... you know, from before they sold out and got popular :nerd:

I'm actually not.

They may be a little too leftist for you, but they put out some pretty decent punk rock. Personally, I enjoyed their English Rebel Songs which isn't punk rock (at least stylistically), but nonetheless pretty 99%-ish. The album is all history-like too, so you might find them of interest just on that level.

Psy Becomes Millionaire

'With one song, 34-year-old Park Jae-sang – better known as PSY – is set to become a millionaire from YouTube ads and iTunes downloads, underlining a shift in how money is being made in the music business. An even bigger dollop of cash will come from TV commercials.

From just those sources, PSY and his camp will rake in at least $8.1 million this year, according to an analysis by The Associated Press of publicly available information and industry estimates. But for online music sales in South Korea, he'll earn less than $60,000.'
