My garden seems to have gotten a 10/10 rating among the local deer population. The apples from last year are nicely fermented, and they stumble off nicely drunk. One of them managed to scratch and dent my car.

Having four legs and being drunk apparently is no better than two.

QuoteA native wood pigeon known for becoming dazed and clumsy after eating fermented fruit has been named the 2018 bird of the year in New Zealand. Rescue centres have been set up around New Zealand as the birds often fly into windows, garages or fall off trees and hurt themselves. Road signs warn motorists to be careful because of flying kererū, which can cause serious damage because of their size and weight.

This year won by an endangered penguin:

Very humane/human?  :D

Incidentally, I'm not a twitcher/birder, but I did 'spot' for the first time a quite rare bird of prey last week, a merlin.
It was sitting, very well camouflaged in a grey-barked tree at the bottom of the garden.  :hmm:

Went cycling in a couple of places in Wales yesterday, on the way back decided the bike need to be taken home for some emergency repairs, so in the evening, had to cycle it back from the station for 22mile with the a loud grinding sound coming from the bottom bracket. :hmm:

Took my first bike trip out into mid-Dorset in nearly a year.

Went out past Wimborne Minister and up to Badbury Rings, a nice iron age hill fort on Cranborne Chase, nice partially getting there via a couple of roman roads.  :bowler:

In several surveys, the overwhelming first choice for what makes Canada unique is multiculturalism. This, in a world collapsing into stupid, impoverishing hatreds, is the distinctly Canadian national project.

As part of the current Johann Strauss year, there's this plastic sculpture at Karlsplatz at the moment, called "Oct. Opus 25".

No, I don't get it either.

Saw this on the streets of Rome today. I also saw a strike through a star of David

It is an octopus sculpture in the year 2025? Is that the idea? Really makes you think.

There's someone on the metro with a Budapest Hungary polo. Does he know he's a baddie?
