They are the people you can best convince to be enthusiastic about dying, and those who snap back the most eagerly from the rigours of war, and so on. They have not settled into families yet- they are more socially expendable than fathers. Men older than they form the backbone of society and can't be spared, while boys younger than them are not yet ripe.

Stop making sense.
To sleep, perchance to dream. But in that sleep of death, what dreams may come?

Adultery should just become a punishable crime. Women are weak creatures easily led into sin, and a male-dominated societal apparatus should encourage them to proper fidelity and submission. :)

And what about for men who often cheat?
"I've never been quite sure what the point of a eunuch is, if truth be told. It seems to me they're only men with the useful bits cut off."
I drank because I wanted to drown my sorrows, but now the damned things have learned to swim.

Naturally they should be punished as well. If we are going to have a parochial system that vigorously denies women free agency in society, we can at least be even-handed about it.
It can't be helped...We'll have to use 'that'

Have a buddy you know and trust fuck your wife when deployed. That way you know what she's up to and with whom.  :hmm:

Find a jody in a wheelchair who resembles a young Jon Voight.

Coming Home was good. Except that Bruce Dern didn't shoot down Jane Fonda.

And make sure it's recorded, for all the good memories.

I'm sure the wife will take care of doing that when she sends the Dear John letter.

If your buddy is a 15 y/o chick you'll be fine.

Who better? To sacrifice our youngest adults while their blood is its most heated seems a fitting ritual to herald the end of spring and summer's onset, when they are just leaving their tender youth, doesn't it?

Their seed is sown. Their job is done. At the least the US army should not allow men who lack brothers from going into battle. Allowing a man whose bloodline might die with him to go into battle is a dangerous undertaking.

(hey, he can use silly archaic reasoning so can I :p)

Historically aren't most soldiers in their 20s or 30s? The backbone of the legions were older dudes for a long while.  In The Big ONe a large part of the American Army were at least in their 20s wasn't it?

In WW2 the average age of the combat soldier was 26. In Vietnam he was 19.
