Schönbrunn zoo is the best in Europe
QuoteVienna attraction beats 40 rival zoos.

London. Vienna's Schön- brunn Zoo is the best in Europe, according to a new study. Schönbrunn came top in the study by the Zoological Society of London out of 40 zoos in 16 European countries released yesterday. Study leader Anthony Sheridan said his team checked 25 different categories such as setting, animal range and ticket prices. He said: "It is a true pleasure to visit the Schönbrunn zoo anytime."
Schönbrunn, which is one of the capital's top attractions, beat the zoos of Leipzig and Berlin which came second and third respectively.

As much as Schönbrunn zoo chief Dagmar Schratter will be pleased with this honour, visitors had some bad news recently as the venue hiked its adult ticket prices by 16.7 per cent to 14 Euros last month. Children's tickets cost six Euros apiece, which means a family of four will have to spend 40 Euros for a day trip to the zoo. The price for the annual pass has gone up as well from 29 to 35 Euros.

More than two million people visited the zoo last year. But zoo officials have said they expect a 25 per cent drop in visitor numbers this summer.

I have an annual pass myself, and it's really worth it (esp. if you manage to go there during days when there's not hordes of school classes or families about); you can nicely combine it with a stroll through Castle Schönbrunn's parks.
I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

I loved the Schoenbrunn Zoo when I was there
My only complaint is that I really wanted to see the red panda, and the fucker was sleeping in its hut when I got there  <_<

I'm waiting for the kids to grow up a couple years older, and I'll surely bring them there again (and to the Bacelon Aquarium, too  )
