The colours seem very evocative :

Yes, it's called "film".  Something the Facepage Tweeter generation no longer knows about anymore.

Well I meant to say, that the tv coverage we'd have seen of Vietnam would have been in black and white, iirc we only saw colour film of the war from about 72 onward, maybe even later after the US had withdrawn, where as Americans would have seen color tv coverage from quite a bit earlier, might have Tet have been broadcast in color ?
I can certainly remember later seeing color footage from the fighting in Hue, would that have been on the nightly news in color ?

edit:
this one is much more wash out, perhaps a from video , a screen grab or from a film report broadcast at a later date ?

The colours in this one seem so 'authentic' it looks like it's from a modern film, rather than a 40 year old conflict.

The rules of photography don't change;  shutter quality of the camera, quality of the lens, and quality of the film speed matter.

JFK and the boys touring the new Cape Canaveral mission center.  Pre-Dallas, obviously.

Is this a combat photo, or perhaps its from training ?

Didn't have ear defenders in those days, US Marines on the back of an M48.

Very different way going about fighting compare to todays images:

LBJ looks bored.

Of course.  Nothing to shoot at.

I like the Dr Strangelove dude behind and to the right of JFK.  Smoking? With sunglasses indoors?  Gotta be a V-2 Kraut.

That's a bit close, looks like an ammo dump on fire perhaps at Khe Sanh

Well it could even have been taken at the same time that Dr.Strangelove was being filmed.

Notice the 60s linoleum floor tiles and the very rudimentary presentation of the fare for the VIPs, just small folding tables covered with a cloth, are those yellow disks ashtrays ?
