Machetes are a lot like falchions, which I think are classified as swords.

Machetes are also a lot like Machetes which are tools.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

A machete is hopefully not usually used as a weapon instead of a tool but it can certainly be classified as a sword.
Winner of THE grumbler point.

The Brain

Women want me. Men want to be with me.

Siege

What? Hungarians don't own guns?
Why would anybody use a machete?
So primitive and uncivilized.

And what's the deal with a calling 4 bodies a massacre?

What a sad story, cuts straight to the heart. :(
It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

It will not last long. He always bleeds out all the good intentions.
Then he wakes up the dragons and the suffering begins.

The endless circle of Tim.

Machete's really aren't swords.  They are like long cleavers.  You use them to cut sugar cane.

I don't.

I prefer a kaiser blade. Some folks call it a sling blade, I call it a kaiser blade.
Mmm hmm.
