Heh, I must have had like 500 of them as a kid.  I couldn't stand superhero stuff, so they were the only comix I read.

The movie spoof is kind of funny, if only 'cause it illustrates how much that melodramatic dark teen angle has become a somewhat tired, and even unrealistic cliche - much like the real Archie comics' Americana family values cliche I am guessing it's parodying.

In America, they drive on the right.  In England, they drive on the left.  In Russia, they drive drunk.  In Greece, they don't drive, because their cars have been repossessed, as have the roads.  In Japan, cars are considered undesirable, because you cannot grope strangers in auto traffic, or at least not as much.

It's because Archie reflects more how America sees/saw itself than how the world sees us.
