Anyone try this out, yet?  Looks intriguing.  :hmm:
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

Mr. Anger posted about it a while ago, don't remember if he had bought it or not.
I think it looks pretty interesting too.

All the heads and torsos look pretty stupid.  You aren't supposed to see your opponents in Stratego anyway.

That's why Martinus, for all his spending on the trappings of wealth and taste, will never really have class.  He's just trying too hard to be something he isn't (an intelligent, tasteful gentleman), trying desperately to hide what he is (Polish trash with money and a severe behavioral disorder), and it shows in everything he says and does.  He's not our equal, not by a mile.

I think the unit art is pretty nice, myself.  The difference between unit and nationality types (Italian, what I assume to be Romanian and German are separate, as you can see in the screen) is easy to spot at a glance and all the information (steps, speed of movement, etc.) is clearly displayed below the unit.

The UoC forums all seem very positive.  I don't see any real negative feedback.

This post by ones of the devs has some decent info

including "We will not be posting the manual as a free download, but if this is indeed the only thing holding you from buying the game, send us an email to info at unityofcommand.net and we'll email you the PDF."

Here is a positive review from wargamer.com

I broke down and bought this.

97MB download.  No DRM other than a product key.  Rather quick install.

I went through the Tutorial and first scenario but that was about 18 beers ago and a whole year ago.

I may be back tomorraw.

I browsed through a few youtube videos and the music is eerily similar to the soundtrack from old Battlefield docs from PBS in the mid 90s I used to watch as a kid.

Yeah, they're too clear and informative for a wargame.
