QuotePolice hope the graphic image of Chen Liu's skull will help them track down his killer.
How is it supposed to help them?
It'll outrage people into speaking to the police.

Can you read?

Anyway, the article is weird in stating the guy was gay, but not offering any additional info. Is it believed that this was a hate crime? If so, then it should be stated. If not, I don't see how his sexuality is relevant for the story.
Sheez, Marti, don't be so thin-skinned. You've earned a caricature, so just revel in it.

On-topic: another thing I just realized that points toward an execution- nail guns aren't very accurate since they're designed to embed themselves into wood, and nail heads aren't always totally even. The only way they could have gotten a shot pattern like that is if he was laying face-down.

Either way, takes one hell of a sicko to fire that first nail and then keep on going for 30 shots.
Uhm, dude. You are not thinking anyone was SERIOUSLY suggesting that was a suicide? Seriously, your "signs points to execution" is so obvious, it's retarded.

QuoteA SHOCKING X-ray shows how a man died with up to 30 nails fired into his skull by a high-powered nailgun.

Sydney homicide squad detectives have released the graphic image as they make a fresh appeal for information about Chen Liu's murder.

The decomposed body of the 27-year-old, also known as Anthony Liu, was found dumped in the Georges River last November, wrapped in a domestic rug.

He was bound with electrical wires and an extension cord and the carpet was neatly folded with each end tucked in and then bound with three strips of wire.

Officers with Strike Force Renfree, formed to investigate the murder, have revealed they believe he was shot dead elsewhere and driven to the river in his own blue 2005 Range Rover Sport 4WD.

Detective Inspector Mark Newham said yesterday that post-mortem examination results had showed Mr Liu was shot repeatedly in the head up to 30 times with a high-powered nailgun.

"Similar types of nailguns can fire nails up to 85mm long," Insp Newham said.

Detectives said the nailgun used in the murder was a standard cordless, framing, gas-charged gun, widely available for sale and hire.

Mr Liu was believed to be gay and lived with his partner in Rockdale. He was reported missing by a male friend two weeks before two children, aged 9 and 14, found his body in Oatley Bay.

A migrant from China who arrived in Australia in 2000, Mr Liu married an Australian woman but they divorced some years ago and did not stay in touch.

Detectives are also appealing for information about the movements of Mr Liu's car, a blue 2005 Range Rover. Insp Newham appealed for information from anyone who might have seen Mr Liu's car in Rockdale or Connells Point about October 19 last year.

I say, get the bitch.

Where is Marty and his outrage?
I didn't originally realise that he was gay. Thanks. :)

Hope they nail whoever did this.

The case is certainly burning under the investigators' nails.

*shrugs* I state the obvious because certain types have a tendency to miss it. And no, I didn't actually think DP or Syt were being serious.

Australia, again... What's their fucking genetic problem that make them so creative when committing murder?  :outback:

It is reminiscent of John Myles Sharpe, who murdered his wife and his baby girl with a speargun shot point blank into their temple. It took five spears shots to kill the baby.

One of the situation when you don't have to wait for the smartass radiologist to tell you what the matter is with the patient? ;)
