In fact.........gasp!.............I think it means that CdM is eligible if he takes up Irish citizenship

Heh I doubt his family are that recent of immigrants.  My Irish ancestors came over fairly late and I am fourth generation.  Donnegal County represent!

Ditto. From what I've heard, the American branch of the family originally came over due to some drama involving nail bats colliding with catholic heads in a pub. The people involved are all dead now, so I can't get any details.

tsk tsk Beeb, Ulster is a province not a county, it has 9 counties and only 6 of them are in Northern Ireland.

:Embarrass:

I don't know which county though, though I'm pretty sure they came from Ulster itself.

Since we are sharing, my wife's Irish half were catholics from Newry, which is on the county Down and Armagh border.

It's a geographical region.  The name of the country which takes up most of it is Northern Ireland.

It is a province...there are five traditional provinces of Ireland.  Though Leinster appears to have eaten Meath at some point so now there are four I guess.

Just letting you know our ancestors were neighbors.  Maybe it is why we look so much alike...maybe we are related *cue scary music*

I'm pretty sure the Cathcarts wouldn't be caught dead fraternizing with papists.  It was bad enough my mother married a Uke in the 70s (well no, not really).
