The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

Quote from: Tamas on April 06, 2024, 10:26:29 AMAm I right in thinking there's no point in playing Helldivers 2 as a casual solo player?

I played my way up to level 30 or so solo (back then you could unlock everything at level 20). It was a nice way to get to know missions, enemies, strats and different loadouts in a sedate manner.

I stopped playing then unless my mates are online. The game is not only much harder, but also a lot less fun without friends.
Yesterday I managed to kill myself by calling an anti-tank pod shortly before engaging the terminal. I can't even fathom how many times the damned ball bounced off shit to land just where I was standing, but we laughed at it for a solid half an hour.

We play at 22:00 CET and most of us speak English if you feel like diving.

Anyone played Terra Invicta?
It looks rather brilliant. Its on sale.
I shan't be buying it this time around as I just wouldn't get a chance to play it. But my eye remains on it for the future.

Tamas

Played a very very early version. It seemed like one of those games that you can lose in the first hour and not have an inkling of it for another 10.

I'll return to it eventually.

It's on Game Pass as well btw.

frunk

I tried playing it a few times.  Only after a couple hours playing do you get far enough to launch a space station.  I think there's an interesting game there, but the opening is deliberately slow and as Tamas said I think its easy to make early mistakes that compound later.

The Battle of Menkat is over. The Battle of Marfak has begun.
