I guess a lot of those are self-registered. It's probably easier/faster to create new pupils and level them to 2 (which you can do in the first 6 fights) to collect 1XP and then start new ones instead of leveling them all the way up.

Problem is almost none of those pupils you create yourself give exp. Maybe there are ways to get around that though.

That's a lot of HP.  Though I notice that brute still gets beaten with some frequency.

The whip is, indeed, awesome. As long as it doesn't get knocked out of the brute's hand ...

Here's a list of the (non-weapon) bonus abilities. Mainly because I'm curious as to the ones I'm missing, so please fill in the blanks if you know them.

Top row(l-r):
herculean strength- self-explanatory
feline agility- same
bolt of lightning- extra speed
vitality- extra health
immortality-shitload of health
master of arms- increased weapon damage
martial arts- increased damage with no weapon equipped

Second row:
sixth sense- increased chance to anticipate attack
pugnacious- occasional retaliations after opponent's attack
tornado of blows- extra attacks
shield- helps block
armour- reduces damage taken
extra-thick skin- same
survival- some kind of defensive bonus

Third row:
Sabotage- destroys enemy's unequipped weapons
Impact- knocks weapons out of enemy's hand
strong arm- increased heavy weapon damage
gay dude- no idea
cast dude- no idea
Thief- steals weapons
fierce brute- adds damage to your attack

4th row:
tragic potion- restores health
web- target can't move til they get hit(awesome against bears)
bomb- area effect damage
4th one- dunno
cry(howl?) of the dead- scares away pets
6th and 7th- dunno

Also at least 3 dogs, a wolf and a bear

Cool list.

Haven't much to add, except that "fierce brute" is more like a singular event that adds damage to an attack - you only get it once per fight. It is great if you happen to be holding your mace at the time  :menace: - it sucks if you add it to a punch in the nose.
