Just wanted to point out that, in addition to the NOTW debacle, there is a spat of interesting articles in the Economist this week about the future of media, especially news media.

The authors posit that news objectivity is a relatively recent phenomenon, that happened in the 19th century and was not based in any high principles, but rather the desire of advertisers to be able to appeal to the broadest possible audiences/readers, so now we are actually getting back to the roots, rather than seeing a distortion of an old principle, as news sources can afford to be biased.
