I saw earlier today that it was actually warmer at the North Pole than it was in Duluth. :bleeding:

23 here now, before the sun comes up.  Supposed to climb into the upper 30s today.
I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

My pipes are still frozen, so I dunno yet.  This happened to me once before, like 6 or 7 years ago, and the pipes didn't burst.

The last couple of days have been unfortunate here, weather-wise.

First, a snowfall. Then, a thaw overnight, that turned it all into slush. Then, a plunge in temp down to the -20-range, that froze it hard as iron.

I spend a morning chipping my car out of a solid block of ice yesterday. Walking anywhere outdoors has become a hazard, because it is nearly impossible to chip the ice off walks and sidewalks (I managed by putting lots of de-icer on, then breaking it up with a hoe).

Apparently Minnesota has been colder than the surface of Mars over the last few days:

Still a ridiculously snug 11C (52F) in London, but SO much rain. I honestly felt like someone was slinging buckets of water over me as I walked to work today. Absolutely soaked to the skin.

The twins have had the last couple of days off due to the cold and shitty roads. Kids have it easy these days. I remember walking to the bus stop in -20 temps when I was a Freshman.

Weather is cold here today, the cold wave that crossed the country hit here. But it was below zero last week during the big snowstorm and part of the weekend so it doesn't seem so bad today, but it isn't as cold as it is/was in the Midwest. Very windy though and that adds to the wind chill.

Actually I still have water in my guest bathroom, which is underground (my house is a walkout ranch) at the level that the pipes come in to the house.  I also have hot water everywhere since the hot water heater is downstairs too in the laundry room, so it's getting water and then heating its pipes throughout the house.  My cold lines leading to the upstairs are what's frozen.  There is very little exposed piping in this house but I am almost positive they are routed through the ceiling of my attached garage, which is unheated--hence the problem.
