Not Catholic anymore, but I still try to give up something every year. I think this year I will give up soda. I thought about alcohol, but decided against it when I realized that Easter was after a huge party.. not before. So soda it is.
Yesterday, upon the stair,
I met a man who wasn't there
He wasn't there again today
I wish, I wish he'd go away...

Did you get all loaded up on meth and heroin for Fat Tuesday, Pee Pee?

CountDeMoney

Sodas, chocolate, and most difficult: fast food.  Baby Jesus will be proud.

Meth?  I'm Catholic, not Amish.

Lent is a terrible idea, and only unbalanced types participate in it.
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

I never give up anything.

Logical fallacy. Lent -> unbalanced doesn't mean unbalanced -> Lent. :contract:
To sleep, perchance to dream. But in that sleep of death, what dreams may come?

Not Catholic, so I can have whatever I want.

Since Lent leads up to Easter, shouldn't it be Zombie Jesus?
I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

Did you know that Lent is a total of 46 days long but you get Sundays off from "fasting"? So whatever you idiots are giving up, you can indulge on Sundays.

Does the IRA still do requests? :hmm:
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

"Most followers of Western Christianity observe Lent beginning on Ash Wednesday and concluding on Holy Saturday. The six Sundays in this period are not counted because each one represents a "mini-Easter," a celebration of Jesus' victory over sin and death."
