It's false for a reason

OK serious question:

I agreed to take my kids to the Oilers watch party tonight.  The Oilers game is in Los Angeles, but we're going to the arena to watch the game on the jumbotron.  Tickets are sold out it should be fairly raucous even though we're only watching the tv broadcast.

I didn't realize however that the Jets are playing at the exact same time! :o

So obviously I'm still taking my kids because I said I would.

But the question is - would I be a tool if I wore my Jets jersey?

You see it sometimes at live games - that guy who is wearing a jersey of neither of the teams that is actually playing.  The arena staff will often do a "lost fan" bit where they put that person up on the jumbotron during a TV time out.

But given that it's the playoffs, that the Jets are playing at the same time, and that it's only a watch party - can I pull it off?

See that's the last thing I'd worry about.  I've worn a Jets jersey to Rogers Place lots of time - when the Jets are the visiting team.  It's actually fun - never really been hassled, I'm definitely not the only one (lots of us Toban expats out in Alberta).

Just more wondering about wearing it when the Jets aren't even playing - but then again it's only a watch party to begin with.

It's only a match party, but it's an Oilers match party.

Get your Slayer jersey instead, you'll look badass in it. :showoff:

At least the Rangers are putting me out my misery quickly.

Wearing a jersey that doesn't belong to one of the two teams playing is generally viewed as tool-like behaviour.  If it's from another sport altogether but matches the colours or city of one of the teams (IE wearing a red Stampeders shirt to a Flames game or wearing a Broncos jersey to a Nuggets game) that gets a pass.

It's a bit like showing up at a wedding and loudly and incessantly talking about how much better some other wedding you went to last week was.

Leafs assure devastated fans that this is them trying their best

Quote"Can't question the effort," said head coach Sheldon Keefe. "Our fans should take solace in the fact that we are about to lose in 5 to a weak Bruins team not because of something fixable like hustle, but because we are a fundamentally flawed hockey team."

"And no, we won't be making any changes to our power play so stop asking."

The Caps led the Rangers for all of 3 minutes in this series. But it was a glorious 3 minutes of hopes and dreams. 3 minutes where we dared to dream of 1998 and 2018, of glory and ultimate triumph.

I will always treasure that brief time

Anyway enough of hockey. Baseball now has my full attention.

In addition to what everybody else has said, you will be telling your kids in a very passive aggressive way that you would rather be doing something else than being with them doing something they want to do.

It would be worse than being a tool.
