Sucker Punch on the telly. I know the reviews were terrible, but the premise has always intrigued me. Yay or nay?
Yay, in the extended/director's cut edition.  You have to be able to take stuff to the 2nd degree though, something most cinema critics are unable to.

I doubt they will be showing the extended edition, but I will give it a go.

WWI, mechas, schoolgirls, and zombies. Why I have never thought of that?

Not nearly enough halucigenic drugs?

Well, it's an interesting idea but it's not particularly well told. The wacko action sequences are fun, but sometimes they just feel too gratuitous. I wish they explored more the relationship of what happens in the fantasy with what happens in reality - like they do in the last one,
where one of the girls sacrifices herself both in the fantasy and in reality
. I also wish they did away with the brothel fantasy, or at least we saw more of the asylum before we jump to the brothel.

Anyway, an interesting failure.

Ah, didn't know you were talking about the sequel.

Sucker punch is terrible.
Even plots with layers and x represents y isms doesn't automatically make a film decent.

Sucker Punch is great eye candy.
To sleep, perchance to dream. But in that sleep of death, what dreams may come?

I'll what you all I want.

I thought there was a sequel to Sucker Punch which went straight to DVD, and that's certainly what Celery suggested with his comment about "the last one."

Clearly you watch not enough fan-service-y anime. :P
I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

I believe he is talking about the girls stories in the movie as there hasn't been a sequel to the film thankfully.

I wasn't talking about the sequel (if there's one). In the last fantasy you see how the events in the train mimic their struggle with the cook in "real life", and the decisions they make in the fantasy mimic the decisions they make in the kitchen (
one of the girls sacrifices herself to save the others
). That's the only fantasy where they do that and that's the one that works best, because there's an anchor that relates the fantasy to reality. The others are just visual orgasms for the sake of themselves, as fun as they are.
