First episode of "Marco Polo". Promises to be "Marco Porno".

A big meh so far.

The BBC one was, from memory, better. Then again, even "Shogun" seemed great in the early 80s. Until you try and watch it again.

 Shogun was awesome and still is. Why I watched it again just a few months ago. Freak.

Good for you.  :bowler:

Exodus.

It's a pretty strange film, but I sort of dug it. It's mainly an spectacle, and not a tremendously successful one (it's just too weird in parts and not dramatically that satisfying), but there's some stuff here and there that made it marginally interesting, plus Scott always shoots gorgeous films, even if the scripts are so-so. I went with some fans of the original book that hated the film, though.

Evolution. First rewatch since I saw it in the theater. Not great, with much dubious science, but David Duchovny being snarky is ok. 6.25/10.

Anchorman. Couldn't quite decide on a tone, but still funny enough. 7.33/10.

I liked Evolution.

Marty has an interesting point. The Wall came down and we thought there would be a new era of peace and prosperity. When it turned to complete shit that gave rise to YA dystopia and murderous costumed vigilantes.
PDH!

crazy canuck

finished watching Marco Polo.  Production value is very high.  Script is very good.  Acting is very good.  Lots in interesting deep characters.  Historical accuracy - not that great.  But if you can look past that it is really very good.  Only down side,  I need to wait for season two now.

Watched a bit of Judge Dredd the other night.  Pretty terrible.

The 95 (96?) one is pretty bad, yeah.  I kind of enjoy it as silly garbage, but it's no Demolition Man.  Whatever the hell that means.  It's certainly no Dredd '12.

Watched The Amazing Spider-Man 2 again.  I really don't know how this wound up hated.  I can see "not-liked."  And it's got bad parts, and it's vignettish.  But overall it's a really, really enjoyable superhero romp, and it just looks great.

Re: Anchorman. I should add that Steve Carell is the best thing about the movie.
