For me at least, for TV of it's time, nothing beats watching the original 'Avengers' series in the early 1970s.   

You do know that the 1970s weren't really "it's (sic) time", right?  The show originally ran from 1961 to 1969.

You know they repeated programmes back then.

I remembered not liking it the first go-around, but subsequent viewings really warmed me up to it.  Besson has to grow on you.

It's kind of like being lost at sea;  it's all wet, fatiguing, difficult to get air and nobody can really hear you, but you just have to keep true north in mind to get back to shore.

Indeed.  One of the few cases where they did Euro-sci-fi right in a Hollywood film.
