Ok I watched about 30 minutes of Pan Am and couldn't watch it anymore. It's so boring. The show seems to have completely no pay off to investing time in it.

Hot Chicks! Oh, right.

That sounds like my experience with Mad Men.

Heh, funny you mention that. I felt the same about Mad Men. I really wanted to like that show, since so many people were raving about it, but it just felt similarly boring.

I guess there could be a pay off if you are excited by "period pieces" but it's just isn't for me. It's just "stuff happening to people".

Btw, for Neil and others - yeah, I'm a fan of Community too, just trolling. It's one of the few good comedies right now.

I can see that. Same reason I like "gay" shows, like Glee.

Satellites run out of bandwith, same as cable, it's just much harder to raise that bandwith. That's why Telus & Bell are installing fiber everywhere. Bell is out of bandwith on it's satelitte. The CRTC told them to carry 42 more local channel & they haven't yet simply because they don't have any place for them.
actually, they have some room left.  They've launched their new satellite last year, so they can afford a few more channels.  Problem is, they want to add 3D Vu! channels, they want better image quality (1080i for everything), they want better sound (probably some lossless codec instead of 5.1 digital) not some local programming in SD.

And they need to make their switch to Mpeg-4, wich they still haven't done.

Pan Am was sub-par. Doesn't hold a candle to Mad Men imo.

I agree with Habs that karine vanasse stole the show. Grade A ass.  :licklips:

What kind of system is this?  Connecting the HDD manually to the cable box?  Don't these things come integrated?  Or do you have an external hard drive attached to a regular cable box (I tought only Bell had this) ?

They can come integrated, you you can connect a separate HDD to the cable box through an eSATA connection.  I have the latter.
Ok, it's similar to Bell's system.
You sure your problem is not with your external drive or the cable? (your own, I presume, not one sold by Shaw?)

There's got to be a reset for your cable box, maybe try that, when you don't need the TV for at least an hour, and let the box update itself to get your channels.  If you don't have anything on external drive, try to erasing the partition on your computer, then replug it on the cable box.
If you do have important stuff, try to find software that will let you back it up from your computer.

I have reset the entire thing numerous times at this point.  I have no idea where the problem lies.

That sounds like my experience with Mad Men.

Mad Men was kind of hard to get into, but it was worth it IMO. First season did seem a little heavier on the setup and atmosphere than later seasons.

is there as USB port on your device?  Does your external hard drive has a USB port?  If so, you could try connecting it to the USB port, see if it makes any difference.
If it's your own drive that you bought seperatly, trying another one, of erase the partition as I suggested.  If you re-create a partition and do a full format in Windows, it might tell you if there's a problem with the drive.

Of course, the ideal solution is to let the tech check everything for you, as it is covered by warranty...  But it's in 2 weeks.

Castle and Hawaii 5-O tonight.

I don't know where Castle is heading, will need to watch more.
Hawaii 5-O was disapointing last week.  Still gonna watch the show, though.  For as long as they have than silver Camaro, I'm hooked on it.

I watched the entire first season and got nothing exciting out of it except the campaign stuff and the dialogue about that.  Wasn't worth Don Draper being a huge douchebag, his wife being a child of 30-odd years of age and the angst over things like which girl Don would cheat on his wife with.
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

True. It's mostly the mpeg-4 switch that is holding them back. I wonder whats holding them back.

Mad Men = greatest current televisual show.

Pan Am = light fun, with great visual attention to detail. (save the shitastic CGI, but Networks can't budget a 707-120 rehaul these days.)
And the 707-120 interior was A+ realistic in all the little details.

I've been watching something called 'Strike Back'.

Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't.
