How does it compare to Von Trier?
To sleep, perchance to dream. But in that sleep of death, what dreams may come?

Willis was also excellent in The Fifth Element. His no nonsense, sarcastic style worked really well with the over the top world and story of that movie. Not sure if the constant exasperation of the character at all the weirdness around him was intended or just how Willis felt about the movie but it works to great effect.
I love that film

I've laughed less at von Trier movies.
I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

If you are doing plane hijack action movies then Delta Force is a must.
Chuck Norris, IIRC?  I'll have to search for this :)

Second half of Delta Force is pure so bad its good cartoonish madness, it has to be seen to be believed.  Optimised by the cheesy French dub.  :P
First half has some pretentions at being a serious movie, with quite a cast, unlike Delta Force 2 which is pure B-movie from beginning to end.

A trio of 90s movies :)
Passenger 57

Pretty generic action movie, nothing really interesting.

Pretty good back then, not just because Snipes ended up Steven Seagaling his career, Central/Eastern DTV fare as well, unlike Bruce Willis who stays in North America.  :P

Air Force One

Notable appearance from Jürgen Prochnow (of Beerfest fame ;) ) in an epic silent role as the emprisoned Kazakhstan leader the Russian communist-nationalist (it's confusing who they are, exactly ;) ) are trying to free.

Jürgen Prochnow was better in House of the Dead (Das Boot is hors-concours :D). Still, the Donald Trump loved Air Force One so it can't be that bad, in a so bad it's good way.  :D

Executive decision

With Steven Seagal and Kurt Russel.  Probably Seagal best movie to date.

Almost in agreement, though it's more of a Kurt Russel movie than Steven Seagal movie.

Probably some of the best movies you have watched in a long while.

This Is Going To Hurt - BBC series based on a book by an NHS junior doctor (all on iPlayer).

Stars Ben Whishaw (who infuriatingly is a convincing junior doctor despite being 41 <_<) - and is very good. Trailer here:

Green Knight - its weird. Vibes of a 1970s film in its style. Holy Grail echos too, and not just because of king Arthur.
I think I get the ending. Though very uncertain. The chivalry is dumb points shine through
The original story was of course a chivalric romance of how awesome and noble Gawain was. This seems to be an inversion of that, showing how fucking stupid honour is. Nicely sets it up with the grim drab and realistic lightning and the shitty almost post apocalyptic medieval setting - so many ruins littering the place. Gawain has clearly missed the bus and he's desperate to catch up.
So many questions still. Like surely mercy is a knightly virtue? There was no reason to cut off the knights head. Just poke him.
The giants. Wtf.
The weird was it all a dream afterall corpse in the forest.
I also wonder if I read too much into it but ghost lady seemed to nicely mock fantasy /gaming clichés with her "why would you touch me?" and "why would you ask for a reward"

I'm pretty sure I've seen both, as a teenager, but I can't recall any of it.

Might still watch it. :P

Bruce Willis can still act, though.

Snipes has smoked so much pot during Blade III that he does not even remember he's an actor :P

Well, I kept thinking what if it happened with Donald Trump?  How many seconds before he caved in to the terrorist demands? :P

I was joking :D  Seagal barely speaks through the movie and dies within 45 minutes :)

And that's why I only watch the show when I'm on a stupendously great mood

I'm two seasons behind  :(

Up until then I thought, "Yeah, it has its dark and depressing character arcs and moments, but the comedy kinda makes up for it. But the penultimate episode of that season ("That's Too Much, Man!") ... damn. Tragic self destruction always gets me. And the flashbacks in the next episode and some of the background details don't make it better, to the contrary, actually. :(

I just re-watched the series, and I think Season 4 might be the best one.  There are standout episodes every season, but that one had the bulk of the Sugarman/Horseman backstory, Ruthie, the Governor's race, Todd's episode, the Underground episode, introduction of Hollyhock, it's just jam packed.

In Season 6 I had forgotten
how dark it gets at the end, although it does feel like a fitting capper for the standard arc of "up and down over the season, serious downbeat on the next to last episode then a bit of a correction at the end."
'I Believe in Miracles' the superb documentary about the brilliance that was Brian Clough's Nottingham Forest.

I'm looking for horror movie soundtrack suggestions. I'm trying to write one and I like to make an accompanying playlist for each of my projects, to put me in the mood.

I'm looking for atmospheric fare. And no synth stuff, which I know takes 90% of the best stuff off the table but it's not the mood I'm looking for.

So far I've got.

- The Shining (the orchestral bits) - and also the Ligetti stuff from 2001, Kubrick was great at picking creepy contemporary orchestral music.
- Midsommar
- Psycho

Not a long list, so I need help  :P

Also Profondo Rosso - Goblin (I'd just explore all the stuff they did with Argento).

Texas Chainsaw Massacre if you need a primarily industrial feel

Maybe the Exorcist/Tubular Bells. The Wicker Man for folk horror. Under the Skin has a great soundtrack which is creepy af but not overly synthy I don't think.

Rosemary's Baby is deeply creepy. Candyman by Philip Glass (haven't seen the remake yet :hmm:)

If there's any religious element - obviously get out the Omen's selection of the scariest bits of Gregorian chant
