Began season 3.

The fact they're given a ship feels a bit of a copout, particularly when it has the same command team as the station. That makes no sense. Also, I always hate "IT WAS ALL A DREAM" episodes, but the reveal of the founders' identity is interesting (even if it was telegraphed).

Taking a look at the mashable list they seem to exclude a majority of the Ferengi-centric episodes  I'm fine with that, Quark et al are decently entertaining but only in controlled dosages.

HVC

The magnificent ferengi is my favourite episode. Some of the ferengi episodes are skipable, especiallly the ferengi politics ones, but the character arc of rom and nog is interesting. Quark doesn't have much of an arc, but he doesn't need one. He's great from the beginning :D
Being lazy is bad; unless you still get what you want, then it's called "patience".
Hubris must be punished. Severely.

I personally love Garak. He's super entertaining and gets some of the best dialogue in the show. I loved the episode in season 2 where Bashir has to save his life and Garak tells him like 3 slightly different versions of his life story, but that would make him a completely different person each. That's nice writing.

Ok watched Past Perfect. Decent entry in the long list of Trek time travel episodes. I know that DS9 has a legendary one where they travel to TOS, but I haven't got there yet.

Also, I haven't got any holodeck episode yet.  :hmm:

I ended up hating most of those in TNG.

Josquius

Yeah. Holodeck episodes always seemed to be ones the actors forced into their contracts so they could have a bit of range.
I recall DS9 has a few later on. Maybe a good one with O Brien and Bashir? The baseball one is horrific.
The worst DS9 episodes though were the prophety vision quest ones.

The ferrengi episodes are amazing.

We had a couple of Franco-Japanese efforts - the Mysterious Cities of Gold and Ulysses 31 - which I loved, and which included really meaningful character arcs. After that, all the American cartoons seemed cheap and light fluff.

Speaking of, the French Once Upon a Time series was very popular in Germany and I still like to watch episodes when I catch them randomly (though the space one was weakest):

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Once_Upon_a_Time...

Really liked Man (world history), The Americas (history of the Americas), Discoverers (inventors and researchers) and Explorers (well, explorers). :)

"Life" was huge in Spain, as Larch will surely corroborate. There were even a lot of memes during the pandemic because the head of the Spanish CDC looks a lot like a virus from that show.

Mysterious Cities, Ulysse 31 are awesome, even after so many years. Still humming some of the tunes and it's been close to 30 years since I first saw those. Regularly rewatching them - especially "Cities" is to blame of course. "Cities" is definately to blame for me choosing archaeology.
"Man" and "Life" are a bit dated but still useful to get children acquinted with history and the body.
"Space" is belongs to some of my earliest memories of things seen on tv. Always loved how "Life" loops back into "Space" at the end.
"Life's" french intro was sung by Sandra Kim, Belgium's only Eurosong winner to date (today's useless factoid)

ah good times...

The trailer is out for the new Masters of the Universe Netflix show, the one produced by Kevin Smith, and it hits me right in the center of childhood nostalgia. And the soundtrack is chef kiss worthy.

"After 40 years" - uncalled for <_<

But yeah that looks great

QuoteOh is it? It is just a 1980s song to me. But hey it is from your....um...collective of countries.
It's a gay anthem in the US as well - I'm fairly sure it's a gay anthem everywhere.

And I will be incredibly disappointed if it isn't at least half as gay as the soundtrack indicates. Plus all the homoeroticism in the Masters of the Universe movie I think there's always been a lot of gay sub-text with the He-Man cartoons - but it may just be the world I live in/know that all the gays my age know this show

QuoteI personally adore "Holding out for a hero" and consider it the epitome of 80s pop cheese, but never really made the association. It's super flamboyant and campy, so it checks those boxes, but never really heard it in the context of gay anthems. :hmm:

QuoteA show that was arguably ahead of its time in terms of story telling and tragically canceled after 21 episodes was Pirates of Dark Water. :(
YES!

QuoteOver here we had cartoons all week long. They started after school so parents could conveniently park us in front of the TV until early evening.
My memory over here is that basically the Saturday mornings were the American cartoons in a breakfast show - followed by Football Italia. A true golden age

After school it was BBC or CITV kids programs - some cartoons, some (brilliant) live action dramas like the Demon Headmaster, Bernard's Watch, The Queen's Nose etc. Straight after school stuff mainly aimed at young kids, from about 4.30 or so mainly stuff aimed at older kids.
Let's bomb Russia!

Maybe it is a niche gay anthem*? Personally, it would never occur to me if you asked me spontaneously for gay anthems. Total Eclipse of the Heart, sure.

*or as a quick search revealed, maybe more of a Commonwealth thing as only easily found it linked as LGBT hit by UK and Australia

Started watching Archer (a bit late, I know). I'm half way through season 3. Pam is awesome. She's living her best life, not giving a shit. :D

Expect quite the wild ride.

In case you didn't see our talk on the show from a while ago, in later seasons it takes some really sharp turns and almost becomes something completely different, starting in season 5, when it becomes "Archer Vice".

I'm ok with that :)

Oh it's still super fun, it's just that it's not always a spy show. IMO it only runs a bit out of steam towards the latest seasons.

I bailed out during the Polynesia version.

I bailed out after the very first episode.
