"There wasn't even a Captain of the station the first few seasons". Then what the hell was Sisko?

He started as Commander and was promoted to Captain during the run of the show.

If it took tradition from the American Navy, not all Captains are Captains, but still can be called Captain.

That's still a silly (and misleading) line.

But DS9 was a base, not a ship. -_-

DS9 was my favourite Trek series.  Voyager a close second - but best captain.

TNG just seems so plastic to me.

Yep.  Just one more piece of B5 stolen for DS9 (B5 was commander by a Commander the first season).  That was kind of a big deal when DS9 was announced.

How so? I always thought the stories on TNG were, for the most part, far better than any other ST.
If I had to rate my Top 10 Star Trek series episodes, there would likely be at least 6 from TNG.

I think B5 was the first of a spate of shows that were supposed to be set on frontier space stations.  So it makes sense they were ripped off.

JMS pitched B5 to Paramount before DS9 was even dreamt of.  The number of details that Paramount then included in their new show that matched what JMS had pitched is huge.  It's not clear whether Paramount's execs just liked those ideas, or whether they decided to make a show that would drive B5 off the air so as to maintain their monopoly on US space operas.

First time "the stuff dreams are made of" was shown in a Warner Bros movie it ended up being lead.  :hmm:

- Captain?- It's a long tradition in the Navy, whomever holds the chair on a ship gets called "Captain", no matter the rank.- So, if I was to take command, I'd be called "captain"?
- Ensign, by the time you took command, there'd be no one left to call you captain.

I liked the dialogue in this series :P
