Wrong Gunn.  It's James.  ;)

Saw an ad for The Ark.  Went and look further.  Looks bad, terribly bad.

In other news, it does not look good for the planned B5 reboot.

CW's former CEO, who was a friend of JMS and a fan of B5 has quit the company, following its acquisition by Nexstar.  And now, it's been announced that the network will focus on sports events (they have a deal for some 14hrs/week golf), news and reality tv shows, leaving room for only 3 scripted shows next year, including All American.

I don't think B5 is going to make the cut. :(  And at this point, I don't think it should make the cut on the CW.  That channel seems dead for scripted shows.  I'm not a huge fan of The Winchesters, compared to Supernatural, it is a bit boring.

I dunno.  It is hard for me to see a B5 reboot as being anything other than a disaster.  Or even at least anywhere near matching the original.

It was good, enjoyed the couple of cracks against Sweden, always good to see some of the British protrayed as devious/untrustworthy and it showed the French military in a positve light.

I started a German show on Netflix last night. "Oktoberfest: Beer & Blood". Don't laugh at the title.

It is, of course, a gritty period show, set in turn of the century Munich, there are enough moustaches, waistcoats and pocket watches to make a Williamsburg hipster blush. An ambitious Nuremberg beer brewer moves into Munich with the aim of setting up the largest Oktoberfest tent ever at a time in which Oktoberfest was dominated by small independent tents run by the city's beer halls (rather than by the beer makers as it is today), and he'll get things his way by hook or crook. For this purpose he clashes with one of the tenants of one of the festival plots he needs to pull his plan, a crusty old traditionalist brewer (beer must come in barrels! What's this "glass bottle" nonsense?). Of course, the newcomer's daughter and the traditionalist's son hook up.

Anyone has watched this? It's a short mini series, so it's not going to be a huge time investment.

What about big busty cleavages? That's what I think about when I think about Oktoberfest. That and the Devil's Wheel.

I'm only two episodes in and Oktoberfest itself has not yet started, I guess it'll be the season's finale as it is all building towards it. I guess that Bavarian girls in drindls showing lots of cleavage will be a larger feature at that point. Until now there's only one character with a big busty cleavage, a brothel owner, and she's an older lady, so maybe not what you are expecting. There was female nudity in the first episode, but it was a relatively slight girl.

No idea about what you mean with the Devil's Wheel.

This is the trailer for the show, in case anyone is curious and wants to check the tone.

It sounds a bit strange to me, very echoy, don't know why.

I guess that familiarity with the time period and German culture of that era is a plus, there's a scene in the 2nd episode in which a bunch of bohemian artists meets for a party in a tavern that I'm sure features lots of important figures, but that I know nothing about. The only one I could name check because her full name was given was Fanny zu Reventlow.

That doesn't seem like the best attraction if you've drank lots of beer.

Well, it was JMS, so having the original author remaking his own product kinda meant it had a good chance of not sucking at the beginning.

I don't know.  BSG was good, in the beginning.  Why can't anything else be good too?
