I got that part. My question is about the other characters. I'm guessing division 3 and the resistance are real. So when they're all in the mental hospital, where are they, and why don't they remember anything? Also, the Lenny/Benny role is pretty confusing.

Iron Fist, 4 eps in. Yeah, it's not nearly as good as the previous Marvel Netflix series, but I find that the critical reception has been way too harsh. It's pretty watchable, just not "great".

Iron Fist 1 episode- hmm.... It is a bit..... blunt? "Yeah, we aren't even gonna check you're the long lost guy but you can walk in no trouble. Fuck you." , "Hi fellow homeless man. I have recently stolen an iphone thus allowing you access to the internet to give you some quick exposition.", "Hi Chinese chick. You know karate. You're Asian. You are my obvious romance for this series. You're dismissive of me yet obviously into me nonetheless? We shall revisist this. Asian chicks. Playing on easy mode."
Not awful awful.
Better than the DC series by a mile.
But not the cinematic level brilliance of the other Marvels.

First 2 eps of Man in the High Castle. Am I supposed to put up with these ludicrous plot holes until the end? The premise is of course interesting  (haven't read the book), but it doesn't have much more going for it atm.

The book is better.  :nerd:

How to plan an orgy in a small town

Silly canadian movie, filled with cliches and stereotypical characters.  Yet, highly enjoyable.  I laughed most of the time at the pure sillyness of it.  Porn on dial-up  :lmfao:

The Dinner Game- Advertised to me as the best French film eva!!!11
It...was quite good.
Very simple. Very twee. But amusing.
Spoiler: They never actually go to the dinner.

Season 2 of The Last Kingdom is starting on Netflix

Halfway through Iron Fist, and it's slowing down a bit... if you don't have much on offer in terms of originality, at least you should try to build momentum.

There's a few interesting things here and there. Supporting characters are more interesting than the main (something Daredevil suffers from, but that show is so much better), but the show it's not coalescing into anything compelling. It's just okay. Ish.

Hogarth!

Yeah, she's great. Pity it seems she's only in a couple episodes. Which is a waste since comic book Hogarth was originated as an Iron Fist supporting character. I really want that Jessica Jones season 2.

Claire Temple as usual shows up too, and although I liked her character at first,
I find the trite
"Claire by odd chance befriends the titular superhero, ends up saving somebody's life with some ludicrous medical jury-rigging, gets in trouble with her hospital"
shtick extremely lazy by now. She needs new material.
I haven't followed the impact on social media (don't care much for these things), but I suppose that the scene where Iron Fist mansplains kung-fu to the Asian sidekick won't have gone down well in this day an age. :hmm:

Still, I find the show entertaining at a basic level of kung-fu! Evil ninjas! Superheroes! I can be easy to please.

I could do with more Hogarth than Colleen. I'm only I think in the midst of episode 4 though.

I do think the decision to have him explain kung-fu is an interesting one given that there had already been controversy that they decided to cast his character as white.

I find Colleen interesting, but yeah, no Hoghart's.

The main problem of the show is that the "rich guy, dead parents, becomes vigilante" has been done so much, that they needed to find some angle that made the show compelling. And they seem to be playing it pretty straight. The only thing I find mildly interesting is that the cult that adopted
him are actually mean cunts that ruined his childhood in order to turn him into a human weapon, instead of your usual wizened Asian mystics,
but nothing adds to much of a muchness.

The two corporate brothers are mildly interesting.
I.e., the chick is kind-hearthed but actually shows a pretty cold mean streak when called upon, while the guy is more antagonistic but at the same time is more vulnerable.
I wonder what they will do with them.

garbon

I've not yet seen Colleen be interesting.
All, I've seen so far is tough girl attitude and then her entering the ring to make some cash, I'm assuming she'll give to her poor student. Not that she hasn't behaved realistically, just that there hasn't been enough of her character for me to want to see more of her.
I also agree that
I basically thought I was watching Arrow and am wondering if they can ever make Danny's character interesting. I think it is a let down how little they are revealing so far about his powers/what happened in his past 15 years and also annoying how child-like he is. Like when he wanted to leave the mental hospital and then thought it would make sense to tell the doctor about being the Iron Fist...
The siblings are kinda cool.
I like, as you mention, how they both sort of play off one another and haven't been written strictly as they initially seemed as good and bad. I do wonder more about what their father has over the brother that the brother is still so submissive after all these years.
