"A Funny Thing" is great. I also note that it is a comedy that manages to be both naughty and smart at the same time; nowadays we only seem to be able to get one or the other in comedies.

Deadwood is fantastic, yeah.  I liked Newsroom, in a dirty West Wing kinda way.  And I would fuck the freckles off Olivia Munn.

Guilty pleasure:  Eastbound and Down.  Fuck is that shit funny.

Did Yi see the first True Detective?

I found True Detective meh.

I thought it was a fantastic series, right up to the sell-out end.  But it was a good hook for a while.

There's a Vincent Van Goh bio coming out that's been painted entirely in his style. Looks fucking brilliant! :worthy:

It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

Winding down on last season of The Wire.  Looking for recommendations for other stuff on HBO GO.

Already tried rewatching Band of Brothers, didn't do that much for me.  First couple episodes of Generation Kill didn't work either.

Eddie the Eagle (2016)

A story of triumph and courage!  Inspired by true story!

Nowhere near as dreadful as I thought it was going to be; though I don't think it's possible to fit more sports cliches into 106 minutes.  It's a fun, light movie, but I'd recommend Race over this for your cliche sports movie dollar.

.... was it not a joke?
nope, it's great, and they've set things up quite nicely this week.

I ordered a DVD through Amazon from Czech.Out. It was promptly delievered AND it came with a nice ribbon around it AND a nice sticker that said "Enjoy your movie from Czech.Out" AND a note with an English translation of the menu AND they threw in a lovely postcard of Olomouc. Good work!

Yes, the movie was indeed K2 with Michael Biehn.

Also, I'm pleased that Mad Max has - at least - swept the technical Oscars. Given how the race was shaping up in the past weeks, it was clear that it had little chance of getting the big ones, but the film still emerges as the one with most awards this season.

The best editing one, in particular, is very deserved. That film is fantastically edited.

As I was watching Mad Max I found myself thinking, "How can a movie that has men on motorbikes flying off ramps to throw bombs on passing cars be this good?"

The only other best picture nominee I saw was "The Martian," so I can't say if it deserved more awards than it won, but I thought it was a great film.  It reminded me of "The General," in that it's built around two chases and wastes no time getting to the action (oh, and the female lead seems like a difficult person to put up with.  ;))

First season up until the last episode: Great, in my opinion. The finale felt like a let-down.

Second season... well, no amount of good actors could've saved it. It wasn't so much bad as constantly promising something it never delivered. Kind of like "Lost".

I assume some of them still go to clubs and bars.  :hmm:
