Oh, and on a bum note, The Gaucho isn't really readily available.  That's a drag. :(

And don't ever confuse me and Ide who wouldn't know nuance if it bit him on the ass.

That's not very nuanced.

Yeah while I agree with the spirit of the comment, nuance doesn't do ass biting.

Gymkata (1985)

Solid B+ or even A- on the so-bad-it's good scale.

My recollection is that it was just so-bad-it's-bad, not so-bad-it's-good.

Well, I never got bored, fun all the way actually, and found it comically bad for the reasons I gave in my post, there are even others I did not mention. We'll have to agree to  disagree on this one.

PS: give it a rewatch? It has not aged well at all, though even at the time it had to be seen as bad, specially for genre lovers.

The Brain

Beautiful Creatures is on TV. Evil Emmy Rossum. :mmm:

Caaught the Martian yesterday.
Enjoyable film, not sure what Malthus the nitpicking lawyer was going on about.
Beyond film seeing trailers has me excited for Revenant which says something as I detest DiCaprio.
And Ron Howard's Moby Dick true story....doesn't look compelling at all, of course I'm rooting for the Whale over the dumbass Humans so maybe just me.
How is that a problem? The whale won that battle.
It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

Saw last week:
John Wick: A+
Wonderful movie.  It's been a while since I've seen such a fun movie.  I won't go into details, many others, including Ide, wrote better reviews than I could :)

Battle of Britain (1969)
bunch of British aviators use their secret weapon against the Germans: they shoot red paint straight into the German gunners' goggles wich causes their bombers to immediatly spiral out of control.

No, seriously, I was a bit surprised that there seemed to be 0 anti-air defense for British airfields, only for London, except for aircrafts.  Was that historical?  Were airfields left totally unprotected?

Started watching "Dark Matter" on Netflix.  Me like.

Finished watching.  Overall, my opinion stands.  Has a lot of plot holes (but very few shows don't have a rough first season), but overall very well done, with a nice twist/cliffhanger.  As there have been few quality sci-fi shows, I look forward to this one continuing.

And after finishing it, decided to roll right into Firefly (had it on my Netlfix list, but have never actually taken the time to sit and watch it...and had never really watched it in full before) to see what the hype was ever all about...

...and now I am buying fully into that hype.  Far too late.  :(

Like, no anti-aircraft guns?  No, there were.  I don't know if they were heavily employed or if after the Blitz they were denuded of the protection, etc., but I've seen pictures of British runways with 3.7 inch guns around them.

Looks like I definitely need to check out John Wick, then. I am not sure if it even got a release over here.

Yes, zero anti-aircraft guns around the airfields, that looked strange.

There's either an extended version of Babe or a part of it I had not seen before.

Also watched Frozen.  The heroine kind of got on my nerves.

Hitchcock. Meh. Hopkins does a pretty good job but the film is phenomenally flat and the attempts to inject some drama to the real events are pretty lame.

Still, it motivated me to watch Psycho yet again, so it wasn't a complete waste.
