Is this an American thing?
As the movies seem to make a point of weddings being big pick up places but in real life they're utterly nothing of the sort, they're the opposite environment.

It's a pop culture thing.  You're right - I've never* actually seen brides maids being picked up at a wedding.


*one exception -  my own wedding!  Only time I've ever seen it, but one of my friends got it on with one of the bridesmaids (my wife's cousin).  A little wierd since I knew both parties, but they were both adults...

Most weddings I've been at, someone hooked up. Mostly horribly inappropriately, leading to drama, often of a drunken nature.

And no,  I'm not referring to the people actually getting married ...

I did however get to take advantage of my reception's open bar.  MASSIVE advantage, in fact
