Apparently 65 years in prison if they're convicted on all counts. I wonder if they'll get prison or deportation, though. I'd imagine deportation back to the DR would probably be a death sentence.  :mellow:

MLB is in bed with the gambling business; the gambling companies run ads and crawlers on televised games updating odds, and yet MLB is shocked, shocked, to find there is gambling going on in the game. This is least surprising scandal imaginable.

Clase seems like a... less than stellar human. He used PEDs, he was part of an "invest in my future contracts by giving me money now" scheme by some company, and now this. I wonder if he talked Ortiz into it as the easy money opportunity you mention. That, or criminal elements in the US or DR putting pressure on them/their families/their friends is always an option, too. It does make me wonder when it started and if the horrible performance by Clase in the 2024 playoffs was connected to it all.
