I picked up some postcards from the Soviet Union while in Hungary in 2008.
Posts here are my own private opinions.  I do not speak for my employer.

Savonarola

I have a 17th century map of Rome made in The Papal States.
In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace—and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock

Lots of Soviet stuff, including a "Leningrad Yacht Club" sweatshirt that was not a joke.
The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.   -G'Kar

Somewhere I have a small picture from the US in the 1850s when it was still a democracy.

:D

That'd be before our "succession" crisis?
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

I don't own her, but my wife was born in the Soviet Union.
It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

Women want me. Men want to be with me.

My mind it was made in a far away land a long time ago.

Off the top of my head, Soviet cameras including a Lomo LCA a Lubitel 166, a thingy/zorki light meter and a very heavy small table vice.

I've an enlarger somewhere which was made in communist Czechoslovakia

A pair of East German 'Zeiss' binoculars.

What's a real rarity now are things stamped with 'Made In England' and that won't change not matter what Johnson's little englander project results in. The only recent thing I recall with it on is a quality dumbell spanner made by Weldtite up in Tyr's neck of the woods.

A bit of a cheat perhaps............I have a stamp collection. So there are stamps from various colonies, Austria-Hungary, the constituent states that became the German Empire and oddities like Saarland and Danzig. Also some items from colonial Singapore and Hong Kong...a table, chest, paintings etc.
