The fact remains that the only person or group to applaud the Norway massacre are random Islamists.

Whats the usual kill ratio in Afghanistan?
Is 1:48 positive or negative for this?

Giap was willing to accept 1:100 against.

I assume that since negotiations were going on, in apparently good faith, that the attack came off at the worst time? Perhaps the next time negotiations are attempted it'll be much harder to try. Don't know though, as there's other sides to it. As is pointed out in the article, the negotiations dealing with the kidnappers, possibly to give concessions, is not desired or the practice.

The idiot got a good soldier killed; and since according to the Telegraph he was warned by a local that the Taliban were coming in time to get away, I would have left him to rot - no negotiations, no rescue.

I must admit, I am almost surprised that Brown risked launching a rescue attempt - I didn't think he had that much Blair in him.
