For some reason Spanish internauts think there's this intense rivalry with France. It feels quite one-sided.

There are many great rivalries that are mostly uni-directional.

I saw Mbappé quoted as follows:

From the start, we went into the press with 3 players against 2. We messed up vs Spain, you need to press 1v1. Even when we recovered the ball, our ball touches and movements were not worthy of a World Cup semi-final.

I think we didn't play our game, technically and tactically. When you don't do what you're supposed to do in a World Cup semi-final, you don't win. Spain stayed true to their game plan. If we are honest, we did not have what it takes to go to the final.

I can respect that.

So yeah, we have a big "historical" rivalry in the literal sense of the word, since we fought countless wars throughout history, but that's about it. Football rivalry is big, though, given the ascendancy of the French team and that we have played them often.
