I don't do meditation.  I drink alcohol to relax, like normal people.

If Microsoft Excel decided to stop working overnight, the world would practically end.

Yeah, it was not a subtle parallel (and the German TV movie even had a very similar seating arrangement (see imag I posted above).
I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

Scrolled through Disney and came across this thumbnail. Caught myself startling ever so slightly at seeing unexpected Dedra (Denis Gough) in the mix. I guess I'm sightly intimidated by her :D

And then tell them it's the best Star Wars of the entire Disney era.
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

Being lazy is bad; unless you still get what you want, then it's called "patience".
Hubris must be punished. Severely.

Damning with faint praise?  :hmm:  :P

Thought you would be softer on a Star Wars series whose first season, some argue, was inspired by Battle of Algiers. :P

:hmm: Is that directed at me? I'm a huge Andor fan. A+ series and every episode is better than the last.

We've got: Overbearing Jewish Mother. SS Mommy. Wannsee Conference. Very Accurate Leftist Revolutionary Cell. ICE Goons. Rave Droid. And more!

What's not to like?

What's the callback for the too many minutes we spent watching children get married?
Getting ready to make IEDs against American Occupation Forces.

crazy canuck

Disappointing beginning to season 2.

Did they change the writers?

Spoilers

We get three episodes watching modern day millennials transported to a Star Wars universe who are literally too stupid to live. Combined with three episodes of a drawn  out wedding in which the leaders of the rebellion also get dumbed down.

Hope it improves from here and gets back to the quality of season 1.

A lot of the appeal of Andor was its somewhat slow pace, which culminated in great pay offs. It took time to establish the murder inquiry, the heist, the prison escape, the funeral.

I too am slightly concerned - but I wonder if it's because of that format, where now they have to rush through the years since they reduced the number of seasons. Or if it's because I am hoping / remembering the payoff without the time to establish the conditions of its impact. I think we saw that on the wedding: I actually think the dance party at the end was a fitting end to that arc, but that Mothma's entourage was more delivering dialogue aimed at reminding us of who they were. "I love money", "I am an hedonistic asshole", "I am weak".

Where they previously began with Cassian, and the rest of the story grew from him, they now had to start at four different points to tell where they were.

So, my hope is that it was a drawn out way to establish where the characters are now, and the challenges they are about to overcome: Mothma's facade is going to have to crack, the Rebels are going to have to unite, Andor will have to decide how to deal with the people he loves.
