Which Dystopian World is Most Like The One We've Begun To Live In?

The ones where the world is run by giant tech companies run by psychopaths.

I feel like that's a lot of dystopias.

But there may be a chicken or egg thing. Often think about this Tweet:
Let's bomb Russia!

I don't feel like I live in a Dystopian universe.  Shit could be a lot worse.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

There are certainly higher stakes...due to things like a greater global connectedness and nuclear weapons...but I kinda agree...the world we live in as common folk is still far better than, say, the 13th-14th century.

It's better than 19th and much of the 20th.  There are spots where it is really bad, places like North Korea an parts of Africa, but mostly we are better off.  Even Africa is better off than it was in the 20th century.  Since the end of the Cold War the trend has been that world is getting richer, fewer people are starving, or being terribly oppressed.  What so puzzles me is that so many people want to overthrow the current system.  It's not a perfect system, and could be refined, but there has been an upward trend that most of the world has benefited from.

I get what you are saying. I guess I took Mongers' post as asking what dystopian future are we seeming to be progressing towards.

Yes, and what are we 3-3 weeks into this shit?

Trumps hoping to host a war criminal (as in waging an aggressive war, war of conquest) in the white house.

It's as if FDR lost the 1940 election and instead the republican (Wendel Willkie?, wild guess) is going to invite Adolf Hitler to tea in the oval office in mid-1941.

What's quite a good description, but it's too random, most of what's going on is intentional wrecking.

People want to oppress, and think they will be the ones doing the oppressing.

My takeaway from the movie was that we need eugenics because the dumb breed too much. Isn't that what some of those birth obsessives also want, though
I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.
