As you know my GF is Britishly-challenge.
She often finds that she has to write in "French" and has quite a nightmare doing this with my computer and its UK keyboard.
I'm trying to figure out a solution for her on this. Stuff that comes to mind.

1: Get her a new laptop from Switzerland/France. Yeah no. £££
2: Get her a Swiss/French keyboard- possible. Cheap enough. But takes a lot of space.
3: An idea I had. Get her a usb device that plugs in. Smaller than a full keyboard but which specifically contains all the weird keys British keyboards lack. Does such a thing exist anyone know?
4: Mess with the settings of my keyboard to setup macros/shortcuts of my own to do macros...sounds very hacky and fiddly but...also a possible solution.

Anyone ran into this sort of challenge before?
In the past I've definitely worked with US keyboards and just had the computer think they're British, but I'm pretty sure she doesn't know the Swiss keyboard enough to heart to get by with that solution.

#3 Yes, it does.

Colonel Caliga is Awesome.

Special order a Canadian keyboard - they're specifically designed to work for both English and French.

Ah wait - missed it was a laptop.

But still - switch it to Canadian (French) mode.  Alt-Shift.  She'll have to remember which keys work for the special characters, but it should work.

Mind you - I hate it when my keyboard will sometimes randomly switch to French-Canadian, but then again I never have reason to type in French.
Posts here are my own private opinions.  I do not speak for my employer.

Eh, I hate it too when it changes back to English randomly.

Like most French Canadian, I use a english keyboard with software layout settings in French (Canada).
